Lead Process Safety Engineer

What you will enjoy doing*

  • You will lead the development of process and plant safety engineering concepts and deliverables for Projects in the Americas including the following:
    • Determination of mechanical design conditions for equipment and piping, as well as allocation, load calculation, specification, inquiry and purchasing of safety relief devices
    • Determination and design of Safety Instrumented Systems
    • Implementation of process safety requirements into project P& ID's
    • Safety design and specification of flare headers, blowdown-, flare-and emergency block in and depressuring systems
    • Participation in technical safety- and availability studies such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, etc.
    • Assessing and promoting compliance with Linde Engineering, Linde Gas and corporate process safety requirements or 3rd party equivalent.
    • Determination and design of fire protection, explosion protection, fire & gas detection concepts and systems
  • You will be expected to collaborate effectively with global teams across cultural and geographical boundaries as well as with project management and engineers of other EPC functions (e.g. engineering, procurement, construction, etc.)
  • You will provide support to the Sales organization with regards to Process and Environmental Safety requirements to support proper upfront project definition during proposal development efforts
  • You will also leverage your previous experience to mentor and train less experienced Process Safety Engineering team members in the LEA organization

What makes you great

  • You have a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working within a compliance management systems such as safety (OHSAS 18001), environmental (ISO 14001), or system safety (MIL-STD-882) systems is preferred
  • 8-10 or more years experience in safety engineering
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations including but not limited to GPA, API, ASME, NFPA, ISA, OSHA, and/or EPA
  • You have effective computer skills like Microsoft Office Software and other discipline specific software applications
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the company
  • You have effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplishgoals
