Starting Pay: $23.08 per hour (plus the ability to earn bonuses for each new home certified)

Home Finder Position Summary:

The Home Finder is primarily responsible for the recruitment, training, certification, and retention activities for the foster parents and kinship foster parents in Onondaga and Oswego counties.

Home Finder Responsibilities:

• Provides and tracks foster parent trainings.
• Develops and implements innovative recruitment and retention strategies.
• Identify additional resources and/or training needed to ensure the foster/kinship parents are capable and confident in addressing the needs of youth in foster or kinship care.
• Maintains and updates electronic and hard copy case records.
• Provides up to date foster parent curriculum and completes the certification for new foster homes, as well as the recertification of existing foster homes.

Home Finder Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience working in a related human services field. Familiarity with therapeutic foster care is preferred. Must have a valid New York State driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Home Finder Required Skills and Abilities:

In addition to demonstrating strong organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and with flexibility in days and hours of work, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills, applicants must also possess the following:

• Demonstrated capacity to comprehend and effectively deliver the designated curriculum to prospective foster parents and kinship caregivers.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and relate to the experiences and emotions of children in foster care and their families, consistently showing sensitivity, insight, and supportive engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive, trust-based relationships with children, foster families, and multidisciplinary professionals within the foster care system.
