Liberty POST is currently seeking a Special Education Teacher or an Early Intervention Teacher for a toddler classroom with children aged 18 months to 3 years of age. This program currently runs 3 days per week in an AM and PM enrollment. (12 students per class)

Position Summary:
The Classroom Teacher is responsible for providing quality services to diverse clients and their families, through appropriate clinical competencies and practices, effective communication and transdisciplinary teaming.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plans, implements special education strategies/instruction and maintains daily lesson plans and activities which reflect the goals of the common core, student IEPs and NYS learning standards.
- Reviews and signs attestation of each child’s IEP; ensures implementation of services regarding location, duration and frequency as listed on IEP.
- Develops and implements designated curriculum that fosters both special needs and typical children’s acquisition mastery of age-appropriate level skills as per NYS and UPK regulations, by using children’s strengths, preferences and interests.
- Assesses children, both formally and informally, leading up to Quarterly and Annual Review Reports for each child in the classroom.
- Provides a developmentally appropriate, child focused, and safe active learning environment. Imbeds instruction across routines and activities.
- Responsible for children’s health and safety at all times, and is aware of and implements behavioral, health and safety, and emergency procedures as they relate to the classroom.
- Develops and implements classroom management strategies and individual behavioral supports for specific children as per agency philosophies.
- Uses functional assessments as well as positive, preventative and interactive strategies.
- Supervises and provides direction for the Assistant Teacher and Classroom Aides by modeling positive relationships and strategies. Provides orientation and ongoing training on specific classroom needs.
- Provides periodic, timely and formalized communication to parents in the form of written reports, phone calls, email and conferences.
- Maintains progress records including anecdotal notes, data collection, and checklists on the development of all children. Reports concerns to the School Administrator and Supervisor.
- Maintains confidentiality of client information.
- Attends and participates in conferences and workshops related to early childhood development, education and related areas, as well as all regularly scheduled faculty and staff meetings.
- Provides explicit feedback to children to enhance participation and engagement in learning activities.
- Establishes and maintains a positive interpersonal relationship with all children, parents/legal guardians, and work related contacts. Directs pertinent information as appropriate.
- Serves as a mandated reporter and reports any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the School Administrator for follow up.
- Checks and responds to email regularly.
- Takes responsibility for quality of own work.
- Makes responsible decisions about use of social media. See POST media policy on Sharepoint.
- Maintains professional boundaries within the work setting.
- Assists with the care and maintenance of equipment onsite, including daily cleaning of toys/materials used during therapy.
- Receives and implements constructive feedback from leadership staff.
- Effectively accesses and utilizes Liberty POST website and Sharepoint to gain
- needed information, enter electronic treatment notes, access forms, parent education information, continuing education information, and employee handbook.
- Follows mandatory guidelines according to the, Regional Policies and Procedures and Employee Handbook.
- Adheres to universal precautions and safety precautions.
- Promotes diversity and demonstrates respect and appreciation for co-workers and children and their families.
- Performs related duties as may be required.
- Uses reflection and sets professional goals.
- Represents Liberty POST in a professional manner.
Position Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master's degree (M. A.) in Special education.
Experience:
- Prior teaching experience is preferred.
- Experience in preschool, child care, early childhood education elementary school and special education.

License/Certification:
- Early Childhood Education (Birth – Grade 2) and Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2) or the equivalent.
Pay Rate: $50, 000-$55, 000 per year
