Pay: $250 per week ($35.71 per day)

Clinical On Call Therapist Position Summary:

The Clinical On Call Therapist provides clinical consultation, guidance, and oversight to Mobile Crisis Responders across the five-county region (Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego) during evenings, overnight, weekends, and holidays. While on shift as the Clinical On-Call Therapist, the employee does not perform responder duties. The position ensures timely clinical support, triage, and decision-making for crises, promoting safety, continuity of care, and adherence to program policies and standards.

Clinical On Call Therapist Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical consultation and support to Mobile Crisis responders in real time.
  • Assists with triage and clinical decision-making when Mobile Crisis teams are engaged in active interventions.
  • Debriefs responders and provides guidance following crisis incidents.
  • Interprets and implements program policy and procedures consistent with Mobile Crisis goals.
  • Provides timely written summaries, updates, and documentation in EMR and/or Microsoft 365.
  • Communicates critical updates to Program Supervisors for follow-up and continuity of care.
  • Collaborates with leadership on quality improvement and oversight of the clinical on-call process.
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation in line with agency and program standards.

Clinical On Call Therapist Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current New York State (NYS) license as one of the following:
    • Licensed Psychologist
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
    • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
    • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) under the supervision of an LCSW, Licensed Psychologist, or Physician
    • Physician
    • Physician Assistant
    • Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
    • Nurse Practitioner (NP)
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience providing clinical mental health services.
  • Previous or current employment with a Mobile Crisis Team is preferred.


Work Environment:

This is a remote, on-call clinical role that provides consultation and support outside of typical business hours, including evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage. Clinical on-call therapists do not work in the community and do not provide in-person services.

    • Work occurs in a fast-paced and clinically complex environment requiring strong clinical judgment, emotional composure, and timely decision-making.
    • Clinical on-call therapists work collaboratively with crisis responders, mobile crisis teams, call centers, and other partners, often supporting situations that evolve rapidly and require clear, concise communication.
    • The role involves managing multiple concurrent consultations and responding to urgent clinical needs during non-standard hours.
  • Worksite Conditions
    • Work is performed remotely using phone and electronic systems in a private, secure setting.
    • Extended periods of phone-based communication, documentation, and clinical consultation are expected.

  • Excellent verbal communication and collaboration skills with crisis responders and partner agencies

  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent consultations
  • Ability to work independently and maintain accountability during non-standard hours
  • Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
  • Demonstrates general computer literacy and the ability to adapt to evolving technology needs, including learning and navigating common desktop and mobile applications such as Microsoft Office 365, Dayforce, Databasics, Relias Learning, and Netsmart myEvolv.
