Levain Bakery Cookie Company LLC is hiring a Food Manufacturing Supervisor - LIC in Astoria, NY. This is a full-time position.
Competitive triathletes and passionate bakers, Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald left their careers to open a small bread shop in New York City in 1995 Levain Bakery. One day, they baked a BIG chocolate chip walnut cookie as energy for triathlon training. At Levain, a batch of these 6-ounce cookies flew off the shelves, and an icon was born. The cozy shop on West 74th Street became a neighborhood favorite and a destination for epicurious visitors from around the world, hungry for the cookie. From the start, Pam, Connie, and the team baked everything fresh on-site each day, donating the days leftovers to charity and we still do, nearly 30 years later. Today, Levain has bakeries across the country (with more to come!), plus ecommerce gift boxes to treat cookie lovers in every state. THE ROLE: FOOD MANUFACTURING PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR (LONG ISLAND CITY) The Food Manufacturing Production Supervisor will oversee daily cookie dough production for all of Levains east coast locations and ensures each and every one of our world-famous cookies is the absolute best quality possible. The Food Manufacturing Production Supervisor coaches and motivates team members to achieve production efficiency standards and quality. The ideal Food Manufacturing Production Supervisor candidate has high emotional intelligence and a knack for operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. What Were Looking For: Proven leadership skills with the ability to optimize team performance and developmentProven experience with food manufacturing sanitation processesExperience with maintenance and repair; mechanical aptitudeExcellent relationship management skills: communication, interpersonal, and influencing skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesResults-oriented approach with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlinesResilient, self-motivated, and able to work well under pressureDetail-oriented with passion and patience for creating consistent, high-quality productsCollaborative spirit and a commitment to upholding Levains core values Job Responsibilities: Leadership Supervise production staff to achieve quality, labor, and product standardsSupervise staff on the execution of projects, product testing, or other non-standard activities as assigned by the Production Manager or General ManagerPerform some light maintenanceSupervise all sanitation activities to ensure all SSOPs are followed and documented Communication & Collaboration Demonstrate excellent communication practices to create an environment of accountability and clarity around missions, projects, and deliverablesWork collaboratively and support our Ecomm business as directed Employee Safety Support the Employee Safety Program by ensuring that all personnel work in a safe mannerIdentify and take action to prevent unsafe practices or situations that could compromise employee safety Food Safety & Quality Assurance Support the Food Safety Program by ensuring that all GMPs, allergen controls, sanitation, and Critical Control Points are followed by all personnelComplete all documentation required to verify that all elements of the Food Safety Program are followedCreate, nurture, and support a spirit of high quality and food safetySupport Quality and Customer Service teams in areas such as customer complaints, process validation, process risk analysis, and team training Operational Excellence & Problem Solving Inspect, troubleshoot, or assess any production or equipment problems. Document and communicate any issues to the Production Manager or General ManagerCollect and input production results in the MRP system. Resolve or account for all deviations.
