Description:

Kroll is seeking a Managing Director within its Financial Services Compliance & Regulatory (FSCR) practice with a specialization in digital assets. This role will support the continued development and delivery of the firm's digital asset strategy across the United States, working closely with FSCR leadership and cross-functional teams including investigations, valuation, risk advisory, and disputes.

The Managing Director will focus on advising financial institutions, fintechs, and digital asset market participants on compliance, regulatory risk, and supervisory readiness. The role combines senior-level client advisory, business development, and subject matter expertise in U.S. financial regulation as it applies to digital assets, tokenization, and emerging financial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Advisory & Regulatory Engagement
  • Advise financial institutions, fintechs, digital asset firms, and market infrastructure providers on regulatory and compliance matters related to digital assets.
  • Support regulatory licensing, registration, and supervisory engagement efforts (e.g., SEC, CFTC, FinCEN).
  • Design and assess AML/BSA, sanctions, KYC/EDD, and transaction monitoring frameworks in digital asset contexts.
  • Conduct regulatory gap analyses and enterprise compliance reviews.
  • Support clients in regulatory examinations, enforcement inquiries, and remediation initiatives.
  • Advise on governance and control frameworks for both public and private/permissioned digital asset infrastructures.


2. Delivery of Kroll's Digital Asset Strategy
  • Contribute to the execution of Kroll's digital asset strategy within FSCR.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across valuation, investigations, cyber, and disputes to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Support development of compliance and regulatory offerings tailored to digital asset market participants and traditional financial institutions entering the space.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on emerging regulatory developments impacting digital assets and tokenization.


3. Business Development & Market Engagement
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the digital asset ecosystem.
  • Support go-to-market initiatives aligned with FSCR and broader firm objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, legal counsel, regulators, and industry participants.
  • Contribute to proposals, engagement scoping, and commercial negotiations.
  • Drive revenue growth consistent with practice objectives.


4. Regulatory & Risk Expertise
  • Interpret and apply U.S. securities, commodities, banking, payments, and AML regulations in digital asset contexts.
  • Advise on compliance program design, internal controls, and risk governance frameworks.
  • Assess regulatory implications of tokenization, digital asset custody, stablecoins, and private/permissioned DLT systems.
  • Provide guidance on supervisory expectations and regulatory readiness.


5. Thought Leadership & Industry Engagement
  • Publish thought leadership on digital asset regulation and compliance.
  • Publish client alerts, white papers, and regulatory insights.
  • Speak at industry panels, conferences, and working groups.
  • Enhance Kroll's market visibility in financial services compliance as it relates to digital assets.


6. Team Leadership
  • Mentor team members and foster professional development
  • Establish performance metrics and accountability structures
  • Promote a culture of integrity and regulatory excellence


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related field (JD, MBA, or similar advanced degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services compliance, regulatory advisory, or supervisory environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in digital assets, fintech, tokenization, or emerging financial technologies.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. AML/BSA, sanctions, securities, commodities, and banking regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience engaging with regulatory authorities.
  • Proven experience developing and managing senior client relationships and revenue generation.


Preferred Experience
  • Experience advising crypto exchanges, custodians, broker-dealers, or banks entering digital asset activities.
  • Familiarity with SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, OCC, and state-level regulatory regimes applicable to digital assets.
  • Experience with regulatory examinations, remediation programs, and enforcement matters.
  • Understanding of governance and risk considerations for permissioned/private digital asset infrastructures.
