Role Overview Kroll is seeking an experienced Export Controls & Sanctions Director to lead and grow our advisory services in export controls and economic sanctions. This individual will define strategy, drive business development, and oversee the delivery of high-quality client engagements while serving as a senior subject matter expert.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and expansion of Kroll's export controls and sanctions advisory services, including strategy, service offerings, and market positioning
  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert on EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and key global sanctions and export control regimes
  • Provide guidance on complex regulatory, compliance, and risk scenarios across industries
  • Oversee execution of client engagements, including risk assessments, compliance program design and enhancement, licensing and regulatory advisory, internal investigations
  • Perform rigorous review and quality control of client deliverables to ensure accuracy, defensibility, and clarity
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders
  • Drive business development initiatives, including originating opportunities, leading proposals, and executing growth strategies
  • Enhance Kroll's brand through thought leadership, industry engagement, and market visibility
  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture
  • Manage multiple engagements simultaneously, ensuring effective execution, resource allocation, and financial performance
  • Collaborate across Kroll service lines to deliver integrated solutions and identify cross-selling opportunities

Qualifications
  • Deep expertise in U.S. export controls and sanctions (EAR, ITAR, OFAC), with familiarity across regimes
  • Proven experience leading client engagements and managing complex compliance projects
  • Strong business development track record, including client relationship management and revenue generation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate strategically while executing tactically in a fast-paced environment
  • Typically 10+ years of relevant experience; advanced degree (JD, MBA, or similar) preferred
