Job Summary

As a Valuation Controller in the Valuation Control Group, you ensure the accuracy and consistency of fair value assessments across a wide range of financial products. Valuation Control is organized along business lines, with this opening being aligned with the Credit Trading and Public Finance desks within the Commercial and Investment Bank. The role oversees pricing governance, model development, market data sourcing, and independent price verification in alignment with fair value accounting standards and internal valuation policies.

You will partner with business leaders, risk, and finance teams to drive best practices and implement effective controls. We empower you to innovate, automate, and enhance our valuation processes. Your work will help us meet regulatory standards and deliver value to our clients and stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities
  • Execute price verification/benchmark process including the calculation of fair value adjustments for instruments including investment-grade and high-yield corporate bonds, bank loans/leveraged loans, private placements, and municipal bonds, both taxable/tax-exempt.
  • Assist with various VCG established practices and control initiatives as well as perform necessary work relating to management reporting, regulatory mandates and consistency within the broader VCG framework
  • Partner with various functional groups on valuation related issues and develop/implement appropriate measures with the goal of ensuring fair value
  • Enhance existing control framework including reviewing independent pricing processes, assessing potential coverage developments and implementing new tools to enhance control efficiency
  • Other value-added projects related to Business, Risk, and Finance initiatives


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Undergraduate degree with finance and economics major preferred
  • 3+ years of related experience in fixed-income valuation
  • Ability to understand complex products, and analyze transaction and process flows
  • Understanding of valuation concepts as they pertain to financial products and derivatives, basic accounting knowledge
  • Analytical and quantitative aptitude. Candidates with quantitative backgrounds preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently

  • CFA certification is a plus
