As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Asset Wealth Management, Digital Assets Team, you lead multiple technical areas, manage the activities of multiple departments, and collaborate across technical domains. Your expertise is applied cross-functionally to drive the adoption and implementation of technical methods within various teams and aid the firm in remaining at the forefront of industry trends, best practices, and technological advances.

We are looking for a visionary engineering leader to join our Asset Management, Digital Assets team as a Senior Director of Software Engineering In this role, you will provide technical direction and hands-on leadership while driving the delivery of innovative blockchain and smart contract applications. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the financial ecosystem by collaborating with product and platform teams to execute our digital assets strategy. Job responsibilities
  • Lead the strategy and development of multiple blockchain and DLT applications and services, guiding a small global team
  • Design and develop scalable, secure services utilizing Java, Spring Boot, TypeScript/NestJS, ReactJS, and Python.
  • Establish and maintain high engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, reliability, and performance.
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery processes, including requirements gathering, architecture design, implementation, CI/CD, deployment, and production support.
  • Collaborate with platform teams to enhance developer experience, toolchains, and cloud-hosted blockchain services.
  • Work closely with Product, Operations, and Core Blockchain teams to innovate and execute transformative blockchain use cases.
  • Coach and mentor team members to enhance technical output, quality, and code reuse, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
  • Strong object-oriented programming language background in Java one or more of the following languages: Go, Rust or JavaScript
  • Hands-on knowledge of end-2-end development in web3 ecosystem - such as smart contract development, deployment, interaction with RPC providers, integrating with key management systems.
  • Experience building on public or permissioned blockchain platforms (e.g., Ethereum/EVM, Hyperledger, Solana, Polkadot, Cosmos, Avalanche, Canton)
  • Proficiency with enterprise development toolchains: Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing
  • Extensive practical cloud native experience, in particular AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proven track record delivering complex software projects into production
  • Excellent collaboration, facilitation, and communication skills; ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring capability; ability to elevate team engineering practices

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Digital Asset experience
  • Thorough understanding of cryptographic protocols and blockchain implementations
  • Good understanding in key management, custody solutions and cryptographic fundamentals
