PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

The Senior Credit Analyst (SCA) is chiefly responsible for analyzing and evaluating financial information and preparing credit analyses for moderate to complex commercial loan requests that adhere to GRB’s Commercial Loan policy requirements. As an SCA, responsibilities also include mentoring and training other Bank Credit Analysts, and Commercial Relationship Manager Trainees in all aspects of credit underwriting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze financial statements of all levels of quality to develop an initial assessment of identifying strengths and weaknesses, as it pertains to a borrower’s historical operating performance, or in the case of new credit being extended, performance on a proforma or projected basis.
  • Review related financial information e.g. credit reports, leases, appraisals and property reports for new loan requests, loan renewals, loan extensions and annual credit reviews.
  • Work with Relationship Managers to efficiently prepare credit presentations to process renewals, extensions and new business requests. This includes, but is not limited to, analyzing information on affiliated debt and relationships.
  • Analyze the guarantor’s personal cash flow through analysis of personal tax returns, personal financial statements and credit reports.
  • Review loan documentation prior to presenting loan requests to the appropriate loan committee to ensure that prior approval conditions have been met. Prepare written commercial loan analysis in a concise but complete format identifying major trends, issues and risks. Ensure that loans presented to the loan committee meet bank policy requirements and that any policy exceptions are noted in the credit presentation.
  • Underwrite SBA 7a and 504 credit facilities following the guidelines set forth in their standard operating procedure (SOP).
  • Other tasks include, but are not limited to, setting up the weekly Loan Committee meetings and notifying the appropriate members using the Board Portal; proofreading all analyses prior to distribution; \setting up Managers and Board Loan Committee agendas and ensuring Committee Minutes are taken.
  • Assist in the training and development of Credit Analysts, Commercial Relationship Manager Trainees, and new employees (Commercial Loan interns) to the Credit Department. Assist in developing new procedures and improvements to the credit process.
  • Active participation in demonstrating the behaviors outlined in the GRB Experience.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, or a business-related discipline (MBA preferred), plus experience in commercial banking and a minimum of 5 years credit analysis, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent credit acumen, required.
  • Must be fluent in analyzing corporate financial statements and tax returns; personal financial statements and tax returns; internally prepared financial information; and other financial information as provided.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Lead by example. Identify current or potential problems, take ownership and see them through to resolution.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills including the ability to proactively communicate with and help others, within and across departments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in completing day-to-day tasks.
  • Demonstrated PC literacy, including O365 application.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Advanced proficiency in nCino.
  • Detail-oriented, conscientious, sensitive to confidential information, and efficient work habits required.
  • Proven aptitude in administration, commercial banking, and financial analysis.
