JOB SUMMARY

This role will be responsible for providing 2nd line of defense credit risk support for a portfolio of clients in the renewable energy, oil, gas, and to be determined sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of credit risk assessment, industry trends, and financial analysis, with specific expertise in renewable energy and assinged markets. The Senior Credit Officer will work closely with senior management, investment teams, and clients to ensure sound credit decisions are made and the portfolio is managed within the bank's risk appetite.

Job Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluate and independently decide on complex credit requests from renewable energy, oil, and gas industries, escalating to senior authorities when necessary, and serve as a voting member on designated internal credit committees.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers and deal teams to structure tailored credit facilities that align with client needs, while ensuring the Bank's risk tolerance is met, particularly in the renewable energy and assigned sectors.
  • Direct asset management planning and contribute to the creation of strategic credit strategies for underperforming or high-risk exposures in the renewable energy, oil, and gas industries.
  • Monitor portfolio performance trends within assigned sectors and proactively identify potential credit deterioration, emerging industry risks, or regulatory impacts.
  • Participate in high-level screening meetings to evaluate new opportunities in renewable energy, oil, and gas, assessing risk-return tradeoffs.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local lending regulations, as well as internal risk frameworks and credit policies, particularly regarding the specific regulatory environment for renewable energy, oil and gas markets.
  • Contribute to the development, enhancement, and implementation of credit policies, risk rating models, and portfolio management tools, specifically tailored to renewable energy, oil, and gas industries.
  • Effectively attend client meetings and conduct on-site project visits to gain deeper insights into operational, market, and regulatory risks within renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects.
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of key risk indicators (KRIs) and conduct stress testing for risks specific to the renewable energy, oil, and gas sectors.
  • Lead and contribute to special projects, cross-functional initiatives, and process improvement efforts related to assigned portfolios as directed by senior leadership.
  • Act as a mentor and subject matter expert to junior credit staff, offering training and development opportunities in credit risk management.
  • Continuously refine templates, risk analysis tools, and credit frameworks to enhance decision-making across complex portfolios in renewable energy, oil, and gas.

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:
  • Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) Business, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum experience required: 15+ Years experience in credit/lending.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education level preferred: Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent) Business, Finance or related field.


Job Competencies:
  • Expertise in analyzing complex financial data to assess creditworthiness and make sound decisions.
  • Skilled at making timely credit decisions under pressure while balancing risk and business objectives.
  • High attention to detail in reviewing financials, legal documents, and credit reports for accuracy.
  • Clear communicator of credit recommendations, risk factors, and policy exceptions to stakeholders.
  • Strong collaborator with Relationship Managers, clients, and cross-functional teams to drive optimal outcomes.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and developing practical, risk-conscious solutions.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client support and portfolio management.
  • Physical demands (ADA): No unusual physical exertion is involved.
