Aquatics Director

Aquatics Director Reports to: General Manager FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt Job Purpose The Aquatics Director leads the Aquatics Department, with primary responsibility for swim programs, lessons, pool safety, staffing, and the member experience. This role develops programs, oversees registrations and scheduling, supports revenue growth, and ensures staff follow safety standards and company procedures. Key Responsibilities Swim Programs and Department Operations Plan, manage, and grow group and private swim lessons and other aquatics programs.Oversee program schedules, registrations, and related activity in Club Automation.Promote programs, monitor participation and revenue, and make recommendations to improve performance.Develop the department budget, review results, update projections, and manage supplies and resources.Maintain a safe, organized aquatics environment and respond promptly to operational concerns. Staff Leadership and Safety Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate aquatics staff.Set clear expectations, coach employees, and address performance or conduct concerns as needed.Verify that employees hold current certifications required for their assignments and maintain accurate records.Ensure staff follow pool safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and company policies.Identify development opportunities and provide ongoing support to the team. Member Service and Club Leadership Respond to member questions and concerns promptly and professionally.Build relationships with members and families to support participation and retention.Work with other departments to coordinate programs and club operations.Participate in Manager on Duty responsibilities as assigned.Complete required company training, including applicable safety and compliance courses. Job Requirements Experience managing aquatics operations, swim programs, and staff.Strong knowledge of pool safety practices, emergency response, and swim instruction.Ability to manage schedules, registrations, budgets, and department performance.Strong communication, customer service, coaching, and problem-solving skills.Ability to use scheduling, registration, and learning systems; experience with Club Automation is preferred.Current lifeguard, professional rescuer CPR, and first aid certifications, or the ability to obtain them before performing duties that require them.Water Safety Instructor and Certified Pool Operator certifications are preferred. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work takes place in an indoor pool and club environment, including time on the pool deck. The role may involve heat, humidity, noise, and exposure to pool chemicals.The schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on department needs.Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and reach throughout the workday.Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds.Must be able to respond to aquatics emergencies and perform duties associated with required certifications.
