Pay Range: $34.60 – $37.00 / hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) on behalf of our client to join their specialized Animal Recovery Center (ARC) team. This facility provides specialized medical rehabilitation and recovery care for animal victims of cruelty and neglect admitted through law enforcement and community outreach partnerships.

Working alongside a team of medical, sheltering, and animal behavior professionals, the LVT will perform technical veterinary nursing and administrative duties to deliver compassionate, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care for up to 40 animals per day using Fear Free / Low Stress handling methods.

  • Execute technical nursing procedures including venipuncture, catheter placement, intubation, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostic imaging, critical care nursing, pharmacology, and dentistry.

  • Administer medications, vaccinations, injections, and supportive treatments per standard operating procedures and veterinarian instructions.

  • Maintain complete accuracy in treatment sheets, surgical requests, patient records, and medical inventory logs (including emergency drugs).

  • Assist medical leadership with humane euthanasia procedures when required.

Team Collaboration & Administration

  • Support onboarding and clinical skill development for direct care staff and new team members.

  • Communicate clear, detailed patient status reports to veterinarians, incoming technicians, and operational teams.

  • Adhere strictly to OSHA safety guidelines, behavioral sedation protocols, and standard operating procedures.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding ongoing legal and criminal investigations.

Facility Care & Sanitation

  • Maintain clean, disinfected, and organized exam rooms, kennels, and treatment areas using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with supply restocking.

Position Requirements

  • Licensure: Active Veterinary Technician License (credentialed through the AAVSB or state licensing board).

  • Education: Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology (or equivalent international qualification).

  • Language: Full professional proficiency in English.

  • Core Competencies: Proficiency in low-stress handling, basic computer skills (Microsoft Office), and strong technical medical skills.

  • Travel: Ability to deploy locally or nationally up to 1 time per year for emergency response operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years of veterinary hospital or shelter medicine experience (or equivalent combination of education and clinical background).

  • Conversational proficiency in Spanish.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Ability to stand, bend, walk, and reach during an 8-hour shift.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely handle large animals (100+ lbs) with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation & Benefits
