About Alvarez & Marsal

Alvarez & Marsal (A& M) is a global consulting firm with over 10, 000 entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals in over 40 countries. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. The collaborative environment and engaging work-guided by A& M's core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity-are why our people love working at A& M.

The Team

With the rapidly changing geopolitical environment, competition for sensitive technologies, and risks associated with potential exploitation of sensitive personal and business data, demand for national security-focused risk analysis and mitigation is growing significantly. Our team supports organizations, investors and counsel identifying, assessing and reducing national-security related risk. We focus on assisting with the national-security components of transaction diligence and design, embedding regulatory requirements into business systems and processes, and facilitating transparency between companies and regulators by leveraging data analytics and other tools. The team also serves as fiduciary to U.S. government agencies in a role of either third-party monitor or third-party auditor.

How you will contribute

As an intern, you will contribute to projects that include transaction diligence, regulatory compliance, and independent oversight. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Supporting team members in executing projects, such as designing, assessing, and enhancing corporate compliance programs.
  • Assisting with risk assessments, compliance reviews, and developing strategies to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting research and analysis to help address alleged violations of statutes, regulations, or policies.
  • Participating in independent oversight engagements, including corporate monitorships and third-party audits, ensuring compliance with mandated requirements.
  • Collaborating on client deliverables, such as reports and presentations, while gaining exposure to a variety of industries and regulatory environments.

Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree in a related field (e.g., business, political science, international relations, law, or economics).
  • Interest in compliance, investigations, or national security issues. Prior experience preferred working as a compliance and ethics professional at a company or professional services firm, and / or with government law enforcement and / or regulatory agencies is preferred.
  • Excellent research and writing capabilities required. Candidates must be able to independently produce complete, polished work products.
  • Must be proficient in using MS Office productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint, etc.)
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-pace, dynamic environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without the need for employment-based sponsorship now or in the future. A& M will not sponsor applicants for US work visa status for this role
