Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Learn and follow food service routines within a short period.
- Set up meal trays and strip down returned trays.
- Operate the dishwasher; observe and record water and chlorine temperatures.
- Wash dishes and maintain clean dish areas.
- Assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks.
- Prepare nourishments and assist with grocery storage in a safe and organized manner.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including surfaces, refrigerators, and floors.
- Sweep, mop, and take out trash and garbage as needed.
- Work cooperatively with cooks and dietary supervisors.
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not include any supervisory duties.
QualificationsEducation and Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous dietary or food service experience preferred but not required.
Certificates and Licenses: - Must obtain and maintain a valid food handler's certificate.
Language Skills: - Ability to read and understand technical procedures and recipes.
- Able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Capable of effectively communicating with supervisors and co-workers.
Mathematical Skills: - Ability to apply basic math, including fractions, ratios, and percentages, in daily tasks.
Reasoning Ability: - Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various formats (written, oral, diagrams, schedules).
Physical Demands- Frequently required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach, talk, hear, taste, and smell.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment- Work is performed in a kitchen setting.
- Exposure to varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
