Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is looking to add a Lead Civil Engineer and/or Engineering Operations Manager in our Las Vegas, NV operation.

Kleinfelder is experiencing rapid growth in the areas of Transportation, water, site civil and Infrastructure throughout the company. We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer with at least 12 years' experience and leadership and management ability to lead or be a strong support to our civil engineering team. Our Nevada operations offer services in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, construction management, materials testing and material laboratory. In Nevada, we specialize in public agency infrastructure projects, as well as civil engineering services for industrial and commercial projects.

The ideal candidate will have general civil engineering and site grading experience but may also focus in areas of transportation, site civil or water. We desire experience in operations, project management, quality management, team building and mentoring of staff is desirable. The ability to be a seller-doer is a plus.

Typical Duties Overview
  • Manage our civil engineering operations, primarily in Las Vegas, with future plans to expand into the Reno market
  • Provide leadership to team.
  • Mentor staff and assist project managers with project staff resourcing.
  • Focus on quality management.
  • Track and manage financial & business metrics including utilization, profits, net revenue multipliers, accounts receivable, etc.
  • Support the development and management of project scope, budget and schedule.
  • Manage complex projects and provide detailed civil engineering expertise.
  • Generate/review professional plans, specifications, technical calculations, exhibits, and reports.
  • Oversee material quantity take-offs and engineer's construction cost estimates.
  • Run weekly coordination meeting with project managers to coordinate resources and meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines as needed to complete project deliverables.
  • Provide project approach and fee proposals as needed.
  • Lead business development efforts in coordination with our Business Development Manager
  • Participate in relevant professional organizations.


Specific requirements include:
  • Experience in providing project management and technical expertise on multiple engineering projects.
  • Experience in providing strategic planning and management.
  • Self-motivated with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Organized and efficient.
  • Responsive to all customers, clients and team members.
  • Experience in client interaction, client management and business development
  • Experience or knowledge in all areas of civil engineering including transportation, water/wastewater, utilities, drainage/flood control, site development, etc.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and engaging staff in a positive manner.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS in Civil Engineering or related field;
  • PE Registration in Nevada (or ability to obtain in 6 months) required
  • 12+ years of progressive transportation, water, civil site and/or stormwater engineering and design experience
