PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Press Support Technician is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and staging all necessary materials, including mounting and demounting printing plates, cleaning and organizing press components, and mixing and delivering inks. This position plays a vital role in supporting the press team by ensuring equipment readiness, quality standards, and that production schedules are met.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Follow all Hoffmaster safety policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Mount and demount printing plates and sleeves with precision
• Prepare, clean, and maintain press components, including anilox rolls, cylinders, and plate sleeves
• Operate the plate mounter and the anilox cleaning system wash station in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Mix, label, and stage inks
  • Label, log, and store plates, sleeves, and tooling per standards
  • Keep the press area organized and compliant with all safety and environmental regulations
  • Assist Press Operators with setup and teardown to ensure smooth job transitions
  • Communicate effectively with Press Operators to ensure alignment on schedule and priorities.
  • Follow and maintain all SQF, GMP, and HACCP Guidelines

• Required Skills/Abilities
  • Experience in manufacturing or printing is a plus.
  • Safety Awareness - Understanding basic workplace safety practices and following all company safety policies.
  • Mechanical Aptitude - Basic knowledge of how machines operate and a willingness to learn press operations.
  • Attention to Detail - Strong focus on details and ability to follow work instructions.
  • Communication Skills - Clear verbal and written communication to work effectively with press team members and supervisors.
  • Teamwork - Willingness to collaborate with Operators and Leads to support production goals.
  • Work Ethic & Reliability - Reliable attendance, punctuality, and dedication to learning new skills.
  • Adaptability - Open to new processes, equipment, and feedback while developing skills for greater independence.
  • Learning Mindset - Desire and ability to expand technical knowledge with the goal of advancing to Flexographic Press Operator I.

Education

Preferred High School or GED

Primary Working Conditions

Manufacturing Environment: Exposure to machinery, powered industrial vehicles, variable temperature

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standard Shift Length: 8+ hours depending on workload.
• Ability to Lift/Push/Pull: Up to 50 lbs.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): PPE is required, which includes safety shoes, eye protection and hearing protection.
• Other Physical Requirements: Significant walking and standing; Incidental Climbing.

Shift (1st Shift).

Monday - Friday (7: 00am-3: 30pm).
