Description:
ERM is hiring a Mine Health and Safety Representative in Cassia County, Idaho. This representative will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of personnel working in mining operations. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs that comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) standards, and serves as a key advisor to management and frontline workers, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular hazard analyses, safety audits, and inspections of mining sites and equipment.
- Training & Education: Deliver safety training sessions to employees, contractors, and supervisors on topics such as emergency response, PPE usage, and regulatory compliance.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure operations meet MSHA, OSHA, and other applicable safety standards; maintain documentation and prepare for inspections.
- Safety Leadership: Act as a liaison between management and workers to foster a proactive safety culture and encourage reporting of hazards.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor safety performance metrics and implement initiatives to reduce incidents and improve safety outcomes.
- Safety Program Development: Design and implement comprehensive mine safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mine safety or industrial safety roles.
- Strong knowledge of MSHA regulations and mining operations.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Proficiency in safety management software and reporting tools.
- MSHA certification a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Mining Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).
- CMSP Certification (Certified Mine Safety Professional) is a plus.
Work Environment
- Work is conducted in both office and field settings at a surface mine
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to strict safety protocols.
- Involves travel to remote mining sites.
