Description:
JOB SUMMARY: Safely load, unload, move, maintain, receive, and ship all sizes of machines and equipment without damage. Operate forklifts and cranes to load, unload and move materials and components. Maintain record systems and properly complete paperwork. Operate computer to maintain computer database records. Maintain yard, storage, and adjacent areas. Maintain equipment as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Assists customers, vendors and truck drivers delivering or picking up machines and components.
- Loads, unloads, and moves all sizes of machines and components from trucks, rail cars and storage areas.
- Assists less experienced people and teach them safe handling techniques.
- Receives and ships machines and attachments.
- Inspects each machine and note any damage before the machine is moved.
- Takes pictures of questionable machine damage.
- Records work time. Maintains manual and computer records.
- Maintains machine inventory.
- Reports any machine problems to the appropriate lead person or supervisor.
- Follows up on reported machine problems.
- Works safely at all times. Adheres to all applicable safety policies. Complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Works within and promote corporate values.
- Maintains yard, storage, and office areas.
- Maintains and dispense bulk and miscellaneous supply inventories.
- Follows orders and instructions received from Dispatcher, Lead person and Supervisor.
- Assists Dispatcher, Yard Workers, and Material Handlers. Back up rail car unloading and loading.
- Backs up appointed safety person.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Demonstrated technical skill competence.
- Appropriate manner, conduct, and grooming adhere to company policy.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively.
- Must have interpersonal skills to cooperatively work with and train people, and to efficiently meet customer needs.
- Must have extensive experience starting, stopping, and operating forklifts, cranes and large heavy equipment.
- Must be able to legibly write receiving reports, maintain inventory control records, and follow shipping instructions.
- Must have mechanical skills sufficient for performing routine vehicle maintenance and machine inspections.
- Consistent attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Current driver's license.
- Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
- Previous experience operating forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment as a Yard Worker.
- Previous experience training and directing people.
