About the role

Due to an internal promotion, we have a rare opportunity for an experienced and driven Product Manager to join our collaborative and dynamic marketing team. Reporting to the Marketing Category Manager (Drainage), this is an exciting role for someone who wants to manage the lifecycle of a portfolio of products. This includes being hands on in the product innovation and development and tracking market data and insights to successfully drive top-line growth of your portfolio of products.


In this busy role, you will manage products within building drainage, stormwater & land drainage product categories. As the SME when it comes to the customer, the competitive market, channel and industry trends, you will need to work collaboratively and be able to partner with the business, to deliver on results and business outcomes.

What will you do?

  • Product Strategy: Develop comprehensive product strategies that are designed to improve product profitability and growth and reinvigorate product innovation.

  • Market Analysis and Customer Insights: Conduct regular market and customer research and analysis to identify opportunities, trends, and competitive insights. Translate insights into opportunities for product growth and product innovation.

  • Innovation & Product Development: Identify product portfolio gaps and successfully drive ideation, innovation and new product commercialisation, steeped in customer insights. Work with the Innovation team and manage key NPD, from building business cases to commercialisation of the product in market.

  • Pricing & profitability: Work with sales, marketing and finance to review and optimise product margins and profitability.

  • Sales and Performance Analysis: Monitor category performance, sales data, and market trends to identify areas for improvement and take proactive actions to enhance results. Develop product forecasts, accounting for market dynamics, and in consultation with sales.

  • Data management & range optimisation: Manage product range information, including SKU, to ensure it is accurate and timely. Conduct periodic range reviews to rationalise and optimise.

  • Product training & support: Develop and deliver product value propositions; provide technical product training for internal staff and external customers; work with marketing communication team to develop communication assets.


About you

  • Degree qualification in Marketing or trade qualified with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Product Management, preferably with a focus on manufactured products in a B2B market (Building Materials, Plastics, FMCG, Construction or Heavy Industrial industries preferred)

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful product strategies that resulted in revenue/market share growth.

  • Strong analytical skills, with good financial and commercial acumen and ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Power BI (highly regarded), PowerPoint and presentation skills, and experienced using ERP systems (SAP preferred).

  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with key internal stakeholders across the business, customers and industrial alliances, to influence and negotiate to get the best result.

  • A natural curiosity for, and deep understanding of market dynamics, industry trends and customer behaviour.

  • Results-driven mindset with a commitment to achieving and exceeding targets.

  • You are safety focused, have a can-do attitude, are flexible, quickly adapt to new challenges and support change.

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent resident with a Driver’s Licence and car, as travel may be required from time to time as part of this role.
