THE OPPORTUNITYThe Medical Advisor provides strategic, tactical and operational leadership to the medical affairs component across Johnson & Johnson MedTech to enhance the development of clinically relevant science; foster understanding of how that data may be applied in medical practice; collaborate to align relevant clinical and scientific insights with sales and marketing strategies that meet the needs of healthcare professionals and advocate for and on behalf of patients.

RESPONSIBILITIESOverall
- Development, implementation and oversight of a local medical strategy aimed at addressing key priorities for the local business and aligning with regional and global programs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant internal and external local and international laws, regulations and Codes.
- Qualified Person responsible for Pharmacovigilance in Australia (QPPVA) and Local Safety Officer for Johnson & Johnson Medical Pty Ltd registered medicine product/s, as required.
- Represents the local business in international forums to advocate for the needs of the ANZ business, patients and healthcare providers.
Promotional Material Oversight
- Provide clinical insights for promotional materials and ensure compliance with TGA, HCC, MTAA, and Medicines Australia standards.
Patient Safety
- Provide clinical assessment for patient safety topics including product complaints, adverse events and product recalls.
Data Generation Program Development
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs and Global Clinical Operations for effective data generation and advocate for local data needs.
- Lead data dissemination, review Investigator Initiated Study proposals and engage with KOLs for product positioning.
Clinical and Scientific Knowledge Maintenance
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of therapeutic areas and competitive products.
Registration and Reimbursement Strategy Initiatives
- Build relationships with professional and consumer groups, collaborate on submission dossiers, and communicate clinical developments for reimbursement strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Service local customers regarding Medical Information Requests and Product Safety to a high standard.
- Work with Marketing to create valuable programs for clinicians and customers.
- Work with Regulatory, Marketing, Health Economics & Market Access on clinical data needs for market access
- Assist medical and non-medical staff in external customer interactions requiring expert knowledge.
- Advanced degree in relevant health/life sciences field required. Preferred areas of study include orthopaedics or general surgery, .
- Medical qualifications such as MBBS, MD or equivalent preferred
- Broad healthcare system knowledge and understanding of evidence-based approach.
- Appropriate industry exposure or experience.
- Commitment to improvement in patient outcomes.
- Desktop investigational/research skills or clinical research experience an advantage
- Clinical practice experience in Australia or New Zealand or a similar health system.
- Experience in cross functional teams with good interpersonal and influencing skills
- Working knowledge of regulatory and industry requirements
