About the Role

  • The role leads the Hotel & Travel technology functions to deliver resilient, secure and innovative IT services across all technology areas.
  • The role scope includes Property Management Systems, Distribution Technology, Operational Technology, Ecommerce & Digital Applications, F& B Systems, Payment Technology, Sales (CRM) and all guest facing technology
  • The role prioritises security, governance and compliance activities in line with the Group’s compliance objectives while ensuring EVT Hotels deliver innovation and growth ahead of market


Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Spend time with key stakeholders to understand divisional objectives and innovation challenges. Help shape the strategic demand for technology solutions.
  • Research externally in and across industries, identify and introduce technology options for consideration.
  • Keep stakeholders informed on key developments and issues.

Technology Innovation Management

  • Collaborate with operational stakeholders to establish and communicate business driven product roadmaps and agreed product solution approaches that deliver additional value to the business.
  • Align products to the IT roadmap where ever possible to efficiently reuse knowledge and common supporting infrastructure platform services.

Digital Management

  • Accountable for ensuring the back-end business systems underlying the digital platforms and products (Digital Marketing Accountability) are meeting the divisional marketing and revenue objectives.
  • Accountable for resilient, innovative and scalable online booking platforms and guest facing digital solutions

IT Team Leadership

  • Ensure an effective team structure to support operations with well documented job descriptions, clear responsibilities and reporting lines.
  • Lead and mentor the team ensuring any performance issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Manage team remuneration reviews, objective setting, team leave planning and approvals.

Risk & Compliance

  • Contributes and supports the Group’s progress on Cyber Security Maturity (NIST framework initiatives) and remediates vulnerabilities raised during testing.
  • Actively review & propose solutions to increase the availability and resiliency of critical IT systems
  • Ensure IT solutions align with the Group’s NIST Cyber Security Roadmap
  • Ensure the testing and documentation of disaster recovery processes is performed annually.
  • Participate in group wide initiatives for digital and physical customer payment card security and customer data privacy initiatives.

Financial Management

  • Ensure annual operating budgets are prepared in accordance with divisional planning requirements.
  • Monitor operating cost performance over the year and reforecast costs as required.

Infrastructure & Application Management

  • Accountable for ensuring critical infrastructure is procured and provisioned in a highly available manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring sufficient infrastructure capacity to facilitate both operational and informational workloads including during peak trade periods.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliant infrastructure including oversight of patching for critical network, server, hardware and database assets.
  • MSP & vendor management and accountability for delivering on EVT backup, retention, security policies in cloud environments.
  • Ensures infrastructure and cloud architecture is well documented.

Technology Innovation & IT Roadmap

  • Collaborate with operational stakeholders & IT leadership to establish, document and communicate business driven product roadmaps and agreed product solution approaches that deliver additional value to the business.
  • Align products to the roadmap to efficiently reuse knowledge and common supporting infrastructure platform services.
  • Support and facilitate delivery of key EVT Group IT roadmap initiatives
  • Ensures business can maximise benefits and utilisation of applications

Technology solutions deployment projects

  • Ensure successful technology deployments, for hotel builds and take overs, new and upgraded technologies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and the Hotels IT and Digital teams to ensure effective change management including relevant staff training.
  • Ensure successful user adoption and ongoing stakeholder satisfaction after go live for new and upgraded solutions by identifying defects and issues and driving to resolution.

Data Management

  • Responsible for ensuring divisional data assets (Operational & Financial) are managed in line with EVT policy and objectives, including risk management, Privacy objectives, data quality objectives and value creation objectives.
  • Assist with planning of technology platform and business process objectives required to meet data strategy targets.
  • Maintain an awareness of and assist as required with management of other data assets (Financial, Employee).

Digital Platforms

  • Accountable for ensuring the back-end business systems underlying the digital platforms are meeting the divisional objectives.
    Digital teams well supported by core platform vendors and API interfaces are considered on procurement

Technology Procurement

  • Collaborating with stakeholders and other key IT Management, ensure a competitive process to procure new technology solutions.
  • Assist stakeholders in establishing business cases and seeking funding approval.
  • Vendor contracts fulfil the EVT standards for privacy, security, availability and liability.
  • Produces and maintains well documented capital planning across 3 – 5 year horizon

Customer Support

  • Ensure operational teams are provided with timely, professional, customer focused technology support.
  • Pro-actively track internal customer sentiment
  • Employ a programme of continual ITSM improvement with documented roadmap.
  • Act a conduit for vendor supported applications ensuring critical escalations are represented at strategic IT level.
  • Leads the service delivery strategy for Edge Engineering support to 3rd party customers

Vendor Management

  • Ensure relationships with key vendors and service providers are managed in a manner which champions EVT’s best interests, and represent EVT in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ensure EVT knows the vendor Product roadmap for all key products and services. Publish this internally to ensure technology alignment and spot issues well ahead of time.
  • Ensure vendors and service providers are kept accountable and meet their commitments to EVT for both project initiatives and operational support.
