About the Role

• Responsible for leading the EVT Data Engineering team, this hands-on role defines and executes the technology roadmap for EVT’s Data & Insight platforms which support business reporting, insights, analytics and data science capabilities. This role supports EVT strategic pillars Grow Revenue Above Market, Maximise Asset Performance and Business Transformation.
• The role scope includes all Entertainment, Travel & Corporate data platforms including performance reporting, financial reporting and customer data warehouse / mar-tech, Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Large Language Models (LLM) and Machine Learning (ML).
• The role prioritises security, governance and compliance objectives and continually advances EVT security posture in relation to Data Platforms.
  

Key Responsibilities

Data Assets, Platforms & Architecture

• Collaborate with Data & Insights team leads to understand the strategic data requirements, challenges
• Design & execute technical roadmaps to deliver resilient, performant data platforms aligned to business outcomes.
• Develops robust processes to ensure the accuracy, stability & reliability of data output.
• Designs solutions informed by observability, monitoring, security, data lineage objectives.
• Able to manage pragmatic data architectures balancing outcomes with long term maintainability.
• Implements AI, LLM & ML platforms to enable deep insights, sentiment analysis, propensity models.

Leadership

• Lead, coach and mentor data engineering team members ensuring best practices, agreed architecture principles are embedded in new and existing data platform initiatives.
• Foster positive working relationships between data engineering team, IT teams and Business Insights team members
• Pro-actively assesses future data platform landscape to inform IT roadmap, investment required and adherence to security & governance objectives.
• Responsible for sourcing and managing external data specialist vendors to augment in house capabilities.

Skills & Experience

• Has a deep understanding of data platforms including Matillion, Snowflake, PowerBI, AWS.
• Deep knowledge of ETL, Data Pipelines, Data Lakes, Real Time Streaming, AI/ML, Python.
• Security & Privacy: Understand of PCI-DSS, Privacy Principles, Cyber Security and Secure coding standards, Obfuscation and data minimisation.
• Product Knowledge: Constantly assess the technology landscape to ensure the IT Roadmap is aligned to BI & Analytics objectives.
