Description:

Position Overview:

  • The Composites Technician is responsible for all aspects of composite specimen preparation in the Physical Sciences Laboratory.
  • Read and interpret work orders to fabricate composite test panels using resin infusion, RTM, and other techniques with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Harvest composite test specimens from panels according to prints, drawings, and standards using saws, routers, and other cutting machinery.
  • Perform secondary bonding operations in compliance with test standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement by collaborating with lab personnel to enhance capabilities and streamline test procedures.
  • Conduct training sessions for new team members.
  • Ensure compliance with the TPI Physical Sciences Laboratory’s ISO 17025 Quality Management System.
  • Assist with inventory management.
  • Maintain a safe and organized working environment.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
  • This is a full-time onsite role. Employees are expected to be present during standard business hours.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in composites lamination and fabrication, machine shop operations, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with table saws, routers, and other composite cutting equipment.
  • Ability to read part drawings and interpret dimensions and tolerances.
  • Commitment to a safe work environment, including proper handling of hazardous materials and use of PPE.
  • Monitoring the work environment for Good Catch and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and general data entry.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within high-performing teams.
