SUMMARY
Performs accounting responsibilities related to assigned functional area accounts which includes the analysis, maintenance, reconciliation, examination, and verification of accounts activity. Responsible for posting and closing assigned accounts on a monthly basis. Completes account analysis and may prepare financial statements. Identifies, summarizes, and validates transactional data created by Oracle Financial system module. Provides critical reports and assessments for management action. An incumbent in the Added Security area of the business also prepares and posts all required Subaru Added Security (SAS) and Subaru Acceptance Corporation (SAC) monthly entries and completes account analysis of key SAS balance sheet accounts. In addition, will be responsible for all third-party Profit Enhancement Program (PEP) payments that amount to over $18 million annually.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads the monthly financial close process for assigned functional areas, including preparation and posting of complex journal entries, reconciliation of high-volume and high-risk accounts, and development of detailed financial schedules to support internal and external reporting.
    • Independently develops and validates accrual estimates for incurred but unpaid expenses, ensuring alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
    • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data, and proactively identifies and resolves discrepancies prior to close deadlines.
    • Supports audit readiness by maintaining thorough documentation and providing timely responses to internal and external audit inquiries.
    • In support of Added Security team: Oversees the full amortization lifecycle for all Subaru of America (SOA) and Subaru Added Security (SAS) deferral accounting, including setup, tracking, and reconciliation of deferred revenue and expense schedules.
  • Performs comprehensive reconciliation of all assigned general ledger accounts, leveraging Oracle financial statements, subledger reports, and aging schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
    • Investigates and resolves complex accounting discrepancies, including those without an immediately apparent cause, by tracing transactions across multiple systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
    • Applies strong analytical skills and professional judgment to identify root causes of variances and implement corrective actions.
    • Maintains detailed documentation of reconciliation procedures and findings to support audit readiness and internal control compliance.
    • Proactively monitors account activity to detect anomalies and prevent recurring issues, contributing to the integrity of the monthly and quarterly close processes.
  • Owns the accounting module maintenance and enhancement processes.
    • Maintains responsibility for system configuration, data validation, and reconciliation processes.
    • Leads testing and validation during implementations and system enhancements. Continues to drive enhancements and issue resolution.
    • Acts as the primary liaison between Accounting, Financial Systems Group, Information Technology (IT), and external consultants to ensure that the module aligns with GAAP and internal policies. Identifies issues and works with system teams to resolve. Recommends and drives enhancements to the system.
    • Provides training and support to team members and stakeholders using the system for reporting and analysis.
    • In support of Added Security team: Owns the OneStream Revenue Recognition module supporting SAS.
  • Oversees all accounting, financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities for assigned business area, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment with corporate objectives.
    • Leads the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis and commentary.
    • Develops and maintains detailed budgets and forecasts, incorporating historical trends, operational inputs, and strategic initiatives.
    • Analyzes program performance and profitability, identifying cost drivers, revenue trends, and opportunities for financial optimization.
    • Continuously improves financial models, reporting tools, and processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and decision-making support.
    • In support of the Added Security team: Oversees activities for Subaru Acceptance Corporation (SAC).
  • Owns the analysis and validation of financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper classification within the general ledger system.
    • Applies advanced accounting knowledge and professional judgment to identify and resolve discrepancies, making necessary adjustments to maintain the integrity of financial data.
    • Performs in-depth reviews of account activity to detect anomalies, ensure compliance with GAAP/International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and support internal control objectives.
    • Identifies and interprets trends and patterns across assigned accounts and functional areas, providing insights that inform forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic decision-making.
    • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to investigate complex issues and implement process improvements that enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
  • Prepares and distributes analysis and summary reports to all management levels. Performs depreciation, amortization, forecasting, and projection analyses as requested.
  • In support of Added Security team: Produces for monthly indemnity schedule and initiates fund movement to Pleiades.
  • In support of Added Security team: Maintains responsibility for the end-to-end process for generating and disbursing all third-party Profit Enhancement Program (PEP) payments, totaling over $1.5 million monthly and exceeding $18 million annually.
    • Ensures timely and accurate payment execution by coordinating with internal stakeholders, validating payment data, and adhering to established financial controls.
    • Maintains and updates allocation percentages for all third-party payees, ensuring alignment with contractual terms and program guidelines.
    • Analyzes payment trends and variances, proactively identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
    • Continuously improves the PEP payment process through automation, documentation, and cross-functional alignment to enhance efficiency and transparency.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works with internal and external auditors by providing requested data, explanations, and process details as requested.
  • Handles calculation and disbursement requests for distributor commissions on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Stays current with GAAP and IFRS as they relate to your specific area of responsibility.
  • In addition to Additional Responsibilities listed above, the incumbent supporting the Added Security team will also perform the following responsibilities:
    • Reconciles invoices for Added Security Roadside Assistance.
    • Participates in Retailer Reinsurance Program by providing loss reports and tracking account balances.
    • Handles calculation of Allstate Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) commissions and liability and records all activity on Subaru Insurance Agency (SIAI)


REQUIRED SKILLS & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of the Oracle Financial Package or experience with relevant enterprise resource planning (ERP) financial systems.
  • Experience with financial software systems such as Qlik, OneStream, GL Wand, and/or Essbase and ability and willingness to learn new financial software systems as needed.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and Word).
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Strong problem-resolution abilities.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Internal Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and accounting analysis.
  • Knowledge of Japanese standards for Financial Instruments and Exchange Act (J-SOX)
  • Ability to prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts independently and accurately.
  • Ability to manipulate a large amount of detailed data to create insightful reporting and analyses
  • Experience with financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting and strong analytical skills to identify and resolve variances and exceptions.
  • Excellent communication skills to resolve any transaction and accounting discrepancies and to collaborate with all levels of management.
  • Ability to contribute to or lead projects and work as part of a cross-functional team and business partner.
  • For incumbent supporting Added Security team: Experience with insurance reserve calculations and an understanding of projection techniques Preferred


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance required required with at least 6 to 8 years of relevant experience. Preference for candidates with a Masters Degree and those with a (CPA) Certified Public Accountant.

WORK ENVIORNMENT
  • Hybrid Role: Remote work 2 days per week (After 90 Days Onboarding)
  • Required Travel: 5%


COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $83800 - $105, 000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. (Internal Job Grade: P3)
