SUMMARY Provides thought leadership for testing principles, strategy, and testing execution of Subaru's custom-developed platforms. Leads a team that works in close partnership with the development teams supporting our Digital, Marketing, and Retailer (dealership) platforms. Supports Subaru's objective to bring exceptional custom developed experiences to our customers with high levels of automation, accessibility, and quality.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES - Quality Assurance Strategy Roadmap Development: Works with manager, peers, and internal and external partners to establish strategic direction and actionable roadmap for quality assurance to our platforms.
- Drive Automation: Delivers a best-in-class automation platform. Works with platform teams and testing resources to develop an automation platform, leveraging a common low-code framework; this platform should integrate into our continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes and enable our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Test Strategy and Execution: Oversees quality testing deliverables including validating the completeness, accuracy, quality, and execution of test plans and test case results. Oversees all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics and applying industry best practices while developing new processes to ensure that quality goals are met. Oversees all test events including, but not limited to, joint integration testing (JIT), testing workshops (WS), user acceptance testing (UAT), vehicle testing, performance testing, load testing, automated testing, regression, and integration testing with vendor partners. Develops and owns standards and processes for all test events. Provides reporting and data analytics.
- Budget Management: Develops the annual business plan and operating budget for quality assurance which includes monitoring spend, allocating resources, and adjusting forecast as necessary to ensure that the financial targets are met.
- Team Leadership: Provides leadership to and works daily with direct reports, contract resources, and vendor partners to deliver project objectives, manage day-to-day operations, and overcome obstacles that jeopardize service quality.
- Vendor Management: Ensures service level agreement (SLA) adherence, engages in discovery of solutions, participates in request for proposal (RFP) and request for quote (RFQ) processes, and partners with legal counsel on contracts.
- Service Management: Negotiates SLAs with service providers as well as internal and external partners while monitoring service delivery to ensure that targets and standards are met.
REQUIRED SKILLS & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS - Working knowledge of all aspects of mobile app testing best practices.
- Experience managing quality assurance teams and testing activities.
- Experience managing functional, performance, automation, and load testing activities while having understanding of metrics.
- Experience identifying and setting quality standards and parameters.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in presenting complex topics to different audiences.
- Time management and ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously.
- Team- or project-based budget management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to drive a team dynamic and manage, develop, and mentor personnel.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate and achieve cohesion among different individuals and functions.
- Ability to easily break down complex, ambiguous problems and propose novel solutions.
- Experience with automation testing tools. (SmartBear/TestComplete a plus)
- Experience with load and performance testing tools.
- Experience with testing tracking tools.
- Experience with developing and leading quality assurance testing team within telematics or business-to-consumer technologies.
- Experience working in the automotive industry.
- Experience with smart device interactions. (voice and watch)
- Familiarity with California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA).
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards - Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Level AA.
- Agile product management or corporate development experience.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS degree and 6-8 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience accepted in lieu of degree.
WORK ENVIRONMENT - Hybrid Role: Remote work 2 days per week (After 90 Days Onboarding)
- Required Travel: 20%
COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $92, 100 - 130, 000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
