Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Housing operations duties:

  • Setting up and breaking down residence rooms for residential hall closing at the beginning of the summer, and again for fall semester opening at the end of summer.
  • Working closely with the Resident & Conference Assistants (RCAs) and supporting Summer Guest & Conference services when needed.
  • Assess rooms, buildings, and storage rooms for cleanliness, maintenance, and readiness.
  • Replacing old and worn furniture in residence halls from on campus stock.
  • Maintaining order and inventory in the residence hall storage rooms.
  • Assessing resident room readiness for fall semester move in
  • Assisting contractors and Stevens Physical Plant employees in accessing rooms requiring maintenance/repair in residence halls.
  • Assist with Key management, including, but not limited to:
    • Key audits
    • Ensuring campus safety through effective and secure key control
  • Administrative tasks

Resident Duties:

  • Implement one program per month for summer residents and interns
  • Enforce policies and protocols in line with the Student Code of Conduct for summer residents and non Stevens interns. Report and document incidents and situations which compromise the health, safety, and security of the summer community.
  • Participate in a rotating on call duty/crisis response schedule (includes weeknights and weekends, scheduled in shifts) including but not limited to:
  • Contact person for any emergency situations that arise for summer residents and non Stevens college interns.
  • Conducting rounds at least once during their shift to check conditions of building.
  • Working with other staff members to ensure proper and adequate duty coverage for institution closing and the following holidays: Memorial Day, Juneteenth, and July 4th

Maintain confidentiality of records and information

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Stevens Institute of Technology student, currently matriculating. Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and be in good standing, including no honor board, judicial, code of conduct, or university policy violations.
  • Prior Housing or Residential Life experience preferred.
  • Good organizational skills and technologically adept.
  • Positive attitude with excellent relational and communication skills
  • Ability to be on your feet and on the move for long periods of time, and ability to lift 30-35 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work as part of a group as well as autonomously to provide the best possible service to students and guests.
  • Proactive and self-motivated; able to prioritize and complete tasks with moderate supervision, both in an office environment as well as in the field.
  • Ability to inventively troubleshoot and problem-solve.
  • Proficient with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Be able to work with all students, staff, and faculty regardless of race, gender, and ethnicity tactfully, and ensure all guests have a great residential experience.
