Position Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for the coordination and oversight of all electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities at the terminal. Direct supervisory responsibility for hourly electrical and instrumentation employees.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the electrical and instrumentation functional area at the terminal in a cost-effective, safe, efficient, and environmentally protective, customer-focused manner.
  • Supervise the electrical and instrumentation activities including work by direct reports and contractors to ensure asset integrity and continuous service to achieve customer satisfaction. Assets include but is not limited to power distribution, lighting, tank gauging systems, meters, valve actuators, alarm systems, SCADA/PLC/HMI, flow computers, control systems, data communications systems
  • Monitor and control the electrical and instrumentation portion of the maintenance budget in a cost effective manner.
  • Ensure that installations and repairs are performed in compliance with corporate standards as well as National Electric Code and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure that preventive maintenance, tests, inspections and other planned maintenance are performed on all equipment according to manufacturer specifications, industry and/or corporate standards and in compliance with federal, state and local regulations at all times
  • Maintain complete documentation of all preventive maintenance inspections and reactionary repairs to electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Ensure direct reports are trained to perform their duties and operate equipment (such as bucket truck) in accordance with corporate and industry standards.
  • Identify and maintain the required spare parts inventory necessary to support the electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities.
  • Support Engineering Department by providing specifications, available manpower, documentation and other information and resources required for Capital Projects
  • Occasionally manage assigned Capital Projects related to electrical & instrumentation
  • Keep the Maintenance Manager informed of all critical activities.
  • Sustain an environment that results in positive work attitudes, progressive practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as directed.


Position Requirements

Education

  • Associate's degree from a technical school or college in a related field or commensurate work experience & education


Experience, Specific Knowledge, Certification, Licenses

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years experience in the maintenance functional area in a industrial, unionized, heavy equipment setting. Oil or chemical terminal or process experience is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a front-line supervisory or foreman position. Experience with unionized workforce a plus.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software Systems
  • Factory training & experience with various Rockwell Automation PLC (SLC, PLC-5, ControlLogix) platforms a plus.

  • Highly developed conceptual skills required, with the demonstrated ability of moving concepts to reality.
  • Proven track record of continuous improvements.
  • Fundamental knowledge of maintenance in a terminal.
  • Good computer skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have good organizational skills.


Working Conditions

  • Office & workshop environment. Often outdoors in the terminal yard, at times in inclement weather.
  • Travel may be required.
  • May be required to work additional hours to meet the needs of the terminal.
  • May serve in an 'on-call' capacity during nights and weekends.


Supervisory Responsibility

  • Directly responsible for the performance of hourly electrical and instrumentation personnel.
