Role reports to: Head of Upstream Research, Skin Health
Location: North America, United States, New Jersey, Summit

What you will do The Senior Scientist, R& D Upstream is responsible for working cross-functionally to deliver the Skin Health innovation pipeline, serving as a technical lead in upstream research platforms for the areas of acne and microbiome.
Key Responsibilities
- The ideal candidate will lead global projects for Skin Health Upstream R& D, supporting new innovation with ingredient technologies and testing capabilities through internal and external development.
- The scientist will understand the external scientific landscape and emerging science, and leverage consumer insights to help build a strong technology pipeline aligned to global brand needs.
- The Senior Scientist will be accountable for the design and execution of multiple projects concurrently supporting the platform objectives
- The Senior Scientist will work internally and externally to identify biological targets and ingredient technologies to deliver measurable benefits aligned to consumer need
- He/She will work with external development partners, suppliers and CROs to source and validate technology benefits
- He/she will work with preclinical and translational sciences team to develop in vitro and ex vivo models and assays to assess functional effects of technologies, understand mechanisms of action and predict/derisk clinical research outcomes and claims
- He/she will work closely in a team environment, as well as independently to acquire data, analyze and interpret results to support ingredient/formula benefits and claims
- He/she will review external literature, data sources and intellectual property to stay current and assess competitive threats
- The Senior Scientist may draft and execute peer reviewed manuscripts, technical reports and communications and patent fillings as appropriate
- The role requires extensive cross functional partnerships and collaboration. A strong scientific background together with strong analytical and communication skills of research findings are required
What we are looking forRequired Qualifications
- The candidate must be eligible to work in the US.
- Master's Degree in Molecular/Cell Biology, Biology, Biochemistry or a related life science discipline with 4-6 years of related experience or Ph.D. with a background in Molecular/Cell Biology, Biology, Biochemistry or a related life science discipline.
- Solid working knowledge in biology/biochemistry pathways, microbiome and/or acne, and experimental design/laboratory technique are required.
- Strong team player, self-motivated, productive, excellent communication and scientific problem-solving skills.
- The candidate must possess the ability to lead research projects, acquire, analyze, interpret, and organize data, write and document research experiments and protocols.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in skin health R& D is preferred; working knowledge of aging skin pathways is preferred.
- Understanding of product development and/or clinical research/claims is preferred.
What's in it for you Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:
$100, 300.00 - $141, 600.00
This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate's skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
