Role reports to: Head of Translational Science Oral Care
Location: North America, United States, New Jersey, Summit
Work Location: Fully Onsite
What you will do The Senior Scientist will be responsible for conducting research directed toward discovery and development of new scientific capabilities to enhance and diversify the expertise of Kenvue Oral Care R& D. The selected candidate will seek out internal and external opportunities to grow our scientific thought leadership, taking a lead role in development of new microbiological tools to assess technologies and products in collaboration with cross-functional teams. The candidate will stay up-to-date with the latest scientific advancements and technologies to inform research strategies and approaches. The Senior Scientist will design and develop studies to advance and progress the expertise and capabilities in the microbiome innovation space. In-vitro biofilm models and cutting-edge assessment tools will be developed by the Senior Scientist that are predictive of clinical outcomes, provide mechanistic insights or generate new, scientifically robust, claims. Intellectual Property will be patented when feasible. Results of research will be communicated regularly, internally to partners and leaders, and externally at appropriate scientific conferences and professional engagements. Publication of scientific discoveries is encouraged to help share the outcomes of our research initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a Master's degree with 4 years of applied research experience OR a PhD with 2 years of applied research experience is required. A degree in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related major is required. Experience with the following is required:
• Microbial biofilm growth and microbiome profiling/characterization
• Biofilm analysis techniques (qPCR, Microbiome analysis methods such as: 16S rRNA gene sequencing, shotgun metagenomic sequencing, metagenomics)
• Biosafety Level 2 laboratory operations
• Ability to translate complex scientific topics into meaningful insights and actionable strategies.
• Ability to work independently and on a team
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong presentation skills
Previous experience with the following is preferred:
• Bioinformatics programming software such as R and experience with Machine Learning
• Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficient in computer software packages and literature searches
• Understanding of clinical and in situ study design
• Experience with imaging tools
• Peer reviewed publication and IP submission process with a proven track record of conducting and publishing impactful research in peer-reviewed journals
What's in it for you Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:
$100, 300.00 - $141, 600.00
This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate's skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
