Role reports to: Research Manager

Location: Skillman, NJ ( Kenvue is currently in the process of moving its Global Headquarters from Skillman, NJ to Summit, NJ. This role is based in Summit, NJ but there may be a period of time during the transition that you must report to Skillman, NJ.)

Pay: $83, 000-$118, 000

What you will do

The Scientist is responsible for planning and conducting laboratory experiments, analyzing and interpreting results, keeping accurate records, providing solutions to scientific problems, preparing technical reports and manuscripts, presenting data at in-house meetings, writing and updating protocols and test methods, and participating in the origination or direction of experiments.

The Scientist will be part of a team of subject matter experts building in vitro models and capabilities that deliver new product innovations and consumer relevant messages that are predictive of clinical outcomes, provide mechanistic insights, and establish the basis for new product claims. The candidate will partner on development of methods with cross functional colleagues to generate data, report results and determine next steps to progress overall project objectives. The Scientist will be responsible for method design and execution of in vitro experiments directed toward discovery, development, and efficacy substantiation of claims to support the long-term growth of Oral Care and Wound Care brands at Kenvue.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting literature and patent searches; organizing and assimilating results of literature searches
  • Collaborating on design of experiments with project partners to advance scientific knowledge
  • Design and execution of lab experiments, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation
  • Preparation and delivery of technical presentations to project teams and senior leaders
  • Provides documentation for preparation of technical reports, manuscripts, and other documents that record data or results
  • Writing and updating protocols, test methods and standard operating procedures


QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of a Master's degree with 4 years of applied research experience OR a PhD with 2 years of applied research experience is required. A degree in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related major is required. Experience with the following is required:
  • Microbial biofilm growth and microbiome profiling/characterization
  • Biofilm analysis techniques (qPCR, Microbiome analysis methods such as: 16S rRNA gene sequencing, shotgun metagenomic sequencing, metagenomics)
  • Biosafety Level 2 laboratory operations
  • Ability to translate complex scientific topics into meaningful insights and actionable strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong presentation skills


Previous experience with the following is preferred:
  • Bioinformatics programming software such as R
    • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Proficient in computer software packages and literature searches
    • Understanding of clinical and in situ study design
    • Peer reviewed publication and IP submission process with a p roven track record of conducting and publishing impactful research in peer-reviewed journal
