What you will do

The Upstream scientist supports the Baby R& D team for a broad range of baby cosmetic and OTC monograph drug products. Primary activities require developing a strong knowledge of chassis formulation and a passion for innovation and continuous development. Working collaboratively within the upstream team, the incumbent will collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Claims, Translational science, Regulatory, Research and Development (R& D), and other functions as needed to provide technical support in design, development, and implementation of technical solutions for new innovations.

This position is primarily lab based and offers a unique development opportunity to understand and impact many formulas in the global baby portfolio

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop new chassis and formulas for new products
  • Assess feasibility and creatively find solutions for technical challenges with new product forms and formulas
  • Utilize strong technical skills and good judgment to effectively assess risk, mitigate issues, and implement solutions that increase the chances of project success.
  • Identify new technologies and formulations that address consumer needs and are differentiated from competitive products.
  • Communicate technical challenges clearly and effectively in the spirit of partnership and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with the fragrance innovation, ingredient resiliency, and sustainable packaging teams to ensure we show proactive leadership to ensure our portfolio protects both people and plane
  • Prepare technical memos, reports, analyze and summarize data, and recommend conclusions based on scientific rationale.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A minimum of a BS in Science, Chemical Engineering, or Equivalent is required.
  • 0-2 years related experience is required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of consumer product characteristics and their correlation with product/raw material performance and performance requirements of specific products or raw materials and the customer needs.
  • Understanding of key performance and safety tests related to skincare and haircare products
  • Ability to partner effectively across a diverse set of business partners to deliver key results in a timely manner
  • Understanding of GxPs and FDA Compliance requirements


Preferred:
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, communication, listening, negotiating and problem-solving/decision-making skills are preferred.


What's in it for you

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:

$81, 175.00 - $114, 600.00

This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate's skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
