We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to provide procurement support in the rapidly grown spend portfolio for the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients category. This role involves developing and executing robust category strategies in alignment with business needs, managing supplier partnerships to drive performance and innovation, and mitigating risks through effective contracting. The ideal candidate will possess strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, as well as a deep understanding of market trends and regulatory requirements. A solid background in procurement within the pharmaceutical or specialty chemicals sectors is essential to support our mission of delivering high-quality products efficiently.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Sourcing

• Leads or supports sourcing initiatives to identify the right supplier partners and build adequate material capacities to support business activities and growth
• Develop spend analysis and deep market intelligence / insight to drive alignment and execution of business goals
• Influence business decision making to deliver ongoing value improvements and drive competitive advantage

Category Strategy Development

• Develop / Support category sourcing strategy for defined portfolio through Business needs assessment, Market intelligence, Supplier evaluations and sourcing choices
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of the business needs and external market trends to shape the development of robust category strategies.
• Proactively engages business partners and/or category leaders to identify their needs and incorporate those needs into targeted strategies.

Supplier Management

• Develop and manage supplier partnerships / external manufacturing partnerships to drive performance delivery, risk mitigation, and value through supplier enabled innovation
• Cultivates and leverages strategic relationships with key business partners (e.g. Internal stakeholders, supplier leadership, SRM/category leaders) to shape, optimize, and diversify the supply base.
• Develop innovative and sustainable solutions to identify and mitigate risk, drive long-term, end-to-end value, and achieve unmet business needs. Identifies and pursues opportunities to develop supplier capabilities.

Contracting

• Mitigate business risk through the understanding of commercial, legal and regulatory requirements.
• Leverage standard contracting processes and technology.
• Use procurement expertise and global business understanding to drive the negotiation and execution of contracts.
• Ensure that agreements and the way they are executed meet business demands of all stakeholders and are aligned with the organization’s overall procurement and business strategy.

Qualifications

• Broad-based understanding of business operations and practices.
• High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (e.g., Category Strategy Management, Supplier Management and Performance, Strategic Sourcing, Market Intelligence, Procurement Excellence, etc.) preferably in a Supply Chain environment.
• Expertise in contracting, understanding regulatory, legal, compliance and commercial elements.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience working across categories, supply chain, and other functional partners in complex environments.
• Strong business and finance acumen with a deep understanding of managing for impact in a complex matrix environment, demonstrating adaptability to changes in the external environment.
• Project Management capability, preferably in management of multi-faceted, complex projects with defined timelines.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully engage, interact and negotiate value enhancing relationships with suppliers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skill with the ability to present complex information confidently.
• Demonstrated ability to influence, partner on & shape projects with and without direct authority.
• Ability to seek and drive continuous improvements.
• Multi-country and Multi-Sector experience preferred with experience across geographies of varied sizes and businesses.
• Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization is able to effectively and efficiently move through transitions

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biological Sciences)
• Prefer an MBA or Master’s qualification

Experience and Skills Required

• Minimum 6-8 years of relevant professional experience
• Strong Procurement background, preferably in the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients / specialty chemicals space
