The Portfolio Strategy and New Business Development Sr. Director Role within the Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO) for the Innovative Medicine portfolio will be the main point of contact for all the NBD/BD projects across the portfolio as well as the lead for business development areas outside of our core 3 TA areas of ONC, IMM, and Neuro. In addition to the area of new business development, this role will also be responsible for strategic initiatives supporting both the GOC and GCSO SLT. Lastly this role will be a core member of the PICS leadership team and will be partner closely with senior leaders in the planning and execution of key strategic projects including but not limited to marketing leadership with communications on overall J& J IM Communication Branding and pull-through. This individual will lead a team of 3 directors and 1 senior manager.

You will be responsible for:

· Coordination of Strategic Projects & Initiatives with GCSO SLT & GOC - Lead broad-based strategic projects for the GCSO SLT and GOC with accountability for successful project delivery and demonstrated business impact such as GOC accelerator initiatives. Oversight and execution of strategic deliverables for GCSO. Work independently to oversee multiple projects simultaneously; responsible for contributing to and independently developing business strategies. Utilize commercial insights to develop actionable dashboards and performance relevant metrics in collaboration with GCSO, R& D, and Regions.

· New Business Development – Lead the team that will serve as a conduit with BD/NBD on overall portfolio DAS strategies and business development priorities while also supporting all new areas of business development beyond the 3 core TAs (Onc, Imm, Neuro). Assist with analyses including differentiated value propositions and target product profiles. Identify data insights and gaps that can influence the development of benchmarks and best practices for Forecasting, Market Research and Intel leveraging in- and external best practices.

· Business Cycle Deliverables - Drive and coordinate core business cycle deliverables for GCSO SLT & GOC including meeting cadence and agenda, coordination of topics with business owner, management of G& O and scorecard metrics, etc. Significant leadership required in development and delivery of the J& J IM Strategic Plan. Marketing leadership required to shape the J& J IM branding/communication pull-through in partnership with overall communication organization.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare or related industry is required.

  • Business experience with solid business acumen (previous experience managing P& L) is desired.

  • Commercial, Portfolio Strategy, and/or Business development background is preferred

  • Experience in a commercial function is required (marketing, market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence, or related function)

  • Strong problem-solving skills, financial and business acumen, and the ability to design, structure, and lead projects required

  • An understanding of major trends and dynamics in the pharmaceutical sector required

  • The ability to build and maintain credibility with senior leaders is required

  • Demonstrated ability to work across functional and geographic boundaries required

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently required

  • People leadership experience required.

  • A proven track record of success in ambiguous and complex environments required

  • Strong communication skill sin story-telling, simplifying the complex, and delivering key messages across the organization necessary

This role will be based in Raritan, NJ and may require up to 10% domestic and / or international travel.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $173, 000 to $299, 000.
