The Finance Director will lead, direct, and advise on total Janssen US rebates and discounts expense – totaling over $40B across five therapeutic areas in various stages of the product lifecycle. This provides financial leadership related to deals to secure patient access to Janssen US brands. This role will be the primary business partner for the Strategic Customer Group (SCG) Value Access Pricing VP2, Strategic Account Management VP2, Contracting Senior Director, and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) organization; sitting on their respective leadership teams. This role will also provide financial leadership for key cross-portfolio initiatives including list price action analysis, long range financial plan strategic pricing and government policy analysis. The candidate will have significant interaction with the Janssen CFO, Strategic Customer Officer, company Presidents and the Company Group Chair related to material customer deals, LPA analysis, LRFP and government policy analysis. The Senior Director will also develop, lead and supervise a team of 5 managers and 7 professionals.

Additionally, this role will be the key point of contract for the Inflation Reduction Act and State Policy changes that have a significant impact on the Janssen portfolio. Specifically, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is a law that was passed in August 2022, and is the largest government policy change to the prescription drug market since the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003. The candidate will regularly present to senior leaders including the Janssen US President, SCG President, TA Presidents, and regional CFO – and occasionally the WW President of Pharm, as well as the Group Finance CFO. The candidate may also be interacting externally with government personnel in price negotiations.

This position deals with highly confidential information and engages in sensitive conversations with executive stakeholders (CFO, Company Presidents). The candidate will need an extremely high degree of professional judgement and subject matter expertise given the assumptions and estimates needed to effectively execute the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Key contact for the Strategic Customer Group Value Access Pricing VP2, Strategic Account Management VP2, Contracting Senior Director, and IRA Organization.

• Financial leader for strategic customer pricing analysis, supporting transactions with a material impact to the Janssen portfolio in the short and long term Frequent exposure to TA Presidents and SCG President during bid reviews.

• NA Pharm Finance and broader finance organizational lead for the Inflation Reduction Act. Overseeing complex modeling and forecasting of impacts to the portfolio, operational readiness reviews, and coordination of the newly required manufacturer data submission for selected drugs.

• With respect to Data Submission, will be responsible for coordinating deliverables across the enterprise (Global Sales, Lifetime R& D, Manufacturing & Distribution, Federal Funding), compiling the information for submission to CMS, participating in meetings with CMS, and addressing any follow ups throughout the entire negotiation period for selected assets.

• Key financial leader for evolving federal and state policy changes, overseeing the financial implications for Janssen, and framing complex analysis for senior leaders. Recent years have seen a dramatic increase in changes to federal and state regulations and related business implications.

• Responsible for providing financial leadership in both commercial and government customer contract analysis.

• Key deliverables are for the entire portfolio which consists of 6 Franchises: Immunology, Oncology, Neuroscience, Infectious Diseases, Cardiovascular, and Pulmonary Hypertension

• Portfolio of over 40 brands and over $35B in net trade sales, and $40B in rebates/discounts – significant materiality for the Enterprise

• Finance lead for all customer master contract changes

• Responsible for providing finance support for the creation of pricing strategies for all products and indications across the market Payer and Providers (Specialty, Retail, Mail Pharmacies, Hospitals, Outpatient Clinic, LTC, Infusion Centers, Physicians)

• Responsible for helping to develop individual appropriate bids and responses to Request For Proposals, including bid grids.

• Cross-Janssen CPC Finance representative for all contract initiatives except Fee for Service

• Ensure appropriate revenue recognition evaluation for all contracts including innovative structures.

• Lead team of 5 Managers and 7 Professionals. Ensure appropriate development of each team member.

• Partner with Janssen US CFO and five senior finance directors on pricing strategies, customer deals and other analyses as needed.

• Lead strategic financial input in GTN forecasting (rebate rates/channel dynamics )

• Lead finance support for the annual issuance of the Janssen Transparency Report.

• Assist in shaping report messaging and output.

• Provide leadership in list price action (LPA) analysis across the Janssen portfolio in partnership with SCG partners.

• Responsible for strategic pricing across the portfolio for annual LRFP exercise.

• Provide transparency to senior executives as to pricing trends and related insights.

• Finance pricing lead for new business development deal.

• Provide expertise and input to appropriately frame and influence NBD deals.

• Lead yearly revenue recognition testing for customer contracts (except wholesalers).

• Ensure compliant testing and review with PwC auditors.

• Lead Customer Deal Modeling improvements through SCG JAIDE tool. Optimize JAIDE tool to provide more robust analyses and analytics for deal modeling. Drive other process improvements as identified.

General Leadership Skills:

• Demonstrate strong influencing and leadership skills with senior stakeholder to further develop all areas of strategic finance pricing

• Proactively Partner with Senior Finance Leaders and Business Leaders to ensure adoption and progression of the J& J Finance Model and new technologies/analytics to enable better business decisions with Pricing & GTN.

• Strong Business Acumen and high degree of professional judgement ensuring that business challenges and opportunities are supported from finance strategic pricing team in the strongest and most agile way.

Develop Finance Talent:

• Lead and partner with senior finance leaders to develop the future finance talent pipeline.

• Develop career pathways within Janssen US Commercial and Government Finance & Compliance and create a more stable and sustainable model with subject matter expertise.

• Create a network of SMEs across NA Pharm to develop strong Finance talent pool across the enterprise.

• Build a dynamic high energy culture.

• Identify, Attract, Develop and Retain critical talent.

• Create new skill sets and capabilities in process and systems supporting strategic pricing and GTN endeavors

• Create a culture that emphasizes compliance & standardization and instills shared accountability; proactively benchmarks with external and internal groups to improve business controls and sustains a credo-based culture.

• Create a culture that thinks across all three Tiers of the Finance model.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting, Finance or Economics is required. A CPA or CMA is highly desired. An MBA is a plus.

• Prior experience with pharmaceutical GTN or strategic pricing is highly desired.

• A minimum of 8 years of accounting/finance experience is required.

• Individual must possess excellent analytical, conceptual, communication and business partnering skills. Individual must work well in a dynamic, matrix style, complex environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

• Requires advanced knowledge of technical accounting and related business applications. Prior people management experiences, and a technical financial compliance background experience strongly preferred.

• Strong knowledge/background of the following technical accounting areas is also preferred: Revenue Recognition; Gross-to-Net; Government Contracting and Compliance, Strategic Pricing Modeling.

• Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving revenue accounting guidance.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.

• Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and ensure key documentation requirements are met.

• This role is expected to have regular interaction with the following groups:

Strategic Customer Group, Cross-Janssen brand VP’s, Pharmaceutical Group Finance, North America Financial Leadership Team, Investor Relations, Health Care Systems, PwC

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

173, 000 --- 299, 000 USD Annual

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
