Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy individual for the role of Medical Communications Summer Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and organization of a SharePoint-based Medical Communications document repository. In addition to gaining hands-on experience with document management and metadata tagging, the individual will learn the fundamentals of medical communications within a dynamic Medical Affairs environment, gain mentorship from experienced professionals, and exposure to career paths in the pharmaceutical industry.

What you'll do (Specific Responsibilities)
  • Assist in setting up and structuring the SharePoint repository for Medical Communications
  • Organize and categorize documents; apply metadata and tags to enhance searchability and ensure proper indexing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to define content organization, structure, taxonomy, and naming conventions
  • Maintain version control practices and identify/archive outdated or duplicate files
  • Support user training on document tagging and retrieval best practices
  • Assist with permission settings and access control as needed
  • Gain exposure to the basics of publication planning process, including project tracking and support
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of knowledge repositories, such as SharePoint or publication trackers
  • Attend cross-functional team meetings to observe collaboration between various functions
  • Present the final repository to Senior MA Leaders.


Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

The ideal candidate is inquisitive, ambitious, hardworking, and has a strong interest in the pharmaceutical industry, including the following:
  • Currently in later years of pursuing an undergraduate degree in life sciences
  • Experience working with SharePoint Online (Microsoft 365)
  • Familiarity with document management and metadata tagging
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of information architecture is a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership in campus/community activities is desired
  • Able to work independently, proactively, and part of a group, with curiosity and flexibility
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications

General Intern Information - Date/Location/Schedule

Internships will take place June - August (10 weeks). This role will be based in Plainsboro, NJ, and operate on a required hybrid schedule - 3 days in the office and 2 days remote per week.
