Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of coating fixtures used in manufacturing processes. This position is ideal for a recent graduate with a strong mechanical engineering foundation who is eager to learn hands-on fixture design, manufacturing methods, and coating process requirements. Full training will be provided. Experience with SolidWorks and vacuum optical coating systems a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Design and detailing of coating fixtures, racks, and tooling used in production
• Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D CAD models
• Collaborate with manufacturing, coating, and quality teams to ensure fixture designs meet process and performance requirements
• Support prototype builds, testing, and design improvements
• Review designs for manufacturability, durability, and ease of use
• Help document designs, specifications, and standard work procedures
• Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree (4-year) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Strong understanding of mechanical fundamentals (materials, mechanics, manufacturing processes)
• Basic proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to learn and work in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• SolidWorks 3D modelling & design
• Experience with coat fixture tooling design for precision optics.
• Vacuum coating equipment experience preferred.

Training & Development

• On-the-job training in coating processes and fixture design best practices
• Mentorship from experienced engineers and manufacturing personnel
• Opportunities to grow into more advanced design and project ownership roles

Work Environment

• Combination of office-based engineering work and shop-floor collaboration
• Hands-on exposure to manufacturing and coating operations
