Position Summary

The Risk & Underwriting Advisor will partner with other Supply Chain teams and cross-functional stakeholders to strategize and deliver client-specific rebate modeling and guarantees for new and existing business. These teams include Rebate Analytics, Formulary Consulting, Rebate New Sales and Prospects Modeling, Negotiations, Sales & Account Management (SAM), Underwriting, among others. As a part of this team, the Advisor will work with leadership to identify and drive not only modeling improvements but also overall process improvements in the rebate and Supply Chain areas. Internally recognized and trusted as the rebate modeling subject matter expert along with his or her clinical sr. advisor peers.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with SAM and Underwriting teams to understand current client financial position and rebate approach as well as strategic options for market checks and renewals.
  • Ideate and propose strategic rebate optimization opportunities and understand long-term benefits and challenges associated with those optimization opportunities.
  • Mentor Advisors and Lead Analysts to help support department training needs.
  • Support team leadership by reviewing key / complex client rebate modeling and "translating" modeling primary components and assumptions into concise and understandable format and messaging for leadership reviews and Pricing Committee.
  • Evaluate client data, create scenarios, and provide expert modeling and guidance for existing clients in alignment with department strategic objectives that drive value to both clients and Express Scripts.
  • In collaboration with Clinical Account Executives, discuss any potential utilization management programs under evaluation to ensure that all modeling and requirements of these programs are accurately represented and in alignment with pharmaceutical rebate contract.
  • Partner with clinical sr. advisor peers to analyze the financial impact of client requested formulary changes to both the client and Express Scripts.
  • Strategize with cross-functional areas of Express Scripts, including but not limited to Account Management, Pricing, Product, Finance, and New Sales.
  • Lead interdepartmental team calls as required to discuss rebate invoicing eligibility terms/conditions.
  • Lead and / or assist in documenting best practices / SOPs for rebate modeling teams.
  • Ensures optimization of work processes for rebate modeling strategies and achievement of department goals.
  • Work on special projects and presentations as needed for the rebate modeling teams.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, Finance, Healthcare or related area/MBA a plus
  • Clinical a plus; but not required
  • 2+years relevant work experience
  • Strong Leadership, Detail Oriented Organizational, and Analytical skills
  • Proficient PC skills - including Excel, PowerPoint and MS Access, experience with database
  • Financial modeling experience-preferred
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical rebate contracts a plus
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced - ever changing environment
  • Excellent relationship building and cross functional skills
