Position Summary The Research Advisor in Clinical Research will directly report to the Principal, and is responsible for investigating the most interesting and challenging questions facing healthcare today, supporting the value of services delivered to patients, identify new business opportunities and demonstrate the clinical and financial impact of Evernorth products and services. The Research Advisor will apply advanced understanding of research methodology (including research design and statistical analysis) to the development and implementation of research projects and serve as project lead or collaborator for multiple projects requiring specialized skills and breadth of expertise. Project leads are responsible for conceptualizing research questions in conjunction with clinical and operational team members, developing research design and determining appropriate methodology, writing research proposals, completing complex analyses, and interpreting and disseminating results to key audiences in a manner appropriate to each audience. The Research Advisor should be able to work either as part of a research project team or independently as needed as well as being able to work with a cross-functional team within a matrix environment to ensure timely completion of work.
Essential Functions - Research project development including conceptualization, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, research design and methodology, research proposal development
- Perform statistical analysis and other data analytic functions
- Documentation, planning and tracking of project tasks and managing timelines obtaining support from across the organization
- Present research findings to internal and external audiences
- Develop proposals, manuscripts, reports and conference presentations
- Develop, document and share best practices for research with team and other internal department
Qualifications - PhD in health outcomes, health services research, pharmacoeconomics, health economics, public health or other similar quantitative/social sciences area along with 1+ year(s) of applied research experience strongly preferred. Masters and 3+ years of applied healthcare research in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment preferred in lieu of a PhD.
- Demonstrated ability to manage research projects and experience in developing and presenting presentations and manuscripts suitable for external audiences required.
- Peer-reviewed publication experience preferred.
- Excellent statistical software programming skills. Highly proficient in SAS. Proficiency in R, STATA, SPSS or similar 4th generation statistical analysis programming language a plus.
- SQL programming and relational database skills highly desirable
- Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- At least 1 year of experience working with medical and pharmacy claims data strongly preferred
- At least 3 years' experience managing and working with large data sets
- Working knowledge of medical diagnosis, procedure, and other pharmacy coding schemas
- Exceptional communication (written and oral), presentation skills, and the ability to effectively communicate technical and other data to broad audiences.
