Description:

BMW of North America, LLC seeks Senior Accident Analysis Engineer in Woodcliff Lake, NJ to analyze accidents involving BMW Group vehicles with respect to active and passive safety to further improve BMW's safety performance. Inspect BMW Group vehicles involved in severe accidents as well as other vehicles involved. Inspect the crash scene and conduct accident reconstructions. Conform to BMW AG investigation standards. Cooperate with universities, particularly with physicians and engineers, to include biomechanical aspects in the safety analysis. Analyze US vehicle crash databases and report on trends and opportunities to further increase product safety. Participate and represent BMW on safety-related congresses and committees. Propose measures on further investigation and discuss analysis and findings with appropriate departments at BMW AG. Analyze active and passive safety/crash vehicle performance and report findings to BMW AG.

Requires: Master's degree in Engineering or related scientific field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience as a Senior Accident Analysis Engineer, or related occupation in engineering within the automotive industry, including reconstruction, causation, or crashworthiness. Specific skills/other requirements - Experience must include (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): Accident research, analysis, reconstruction, crash behavior of vehicle, and biomechanics of occupants; Knowledge of motor vehicle technologies: including but not limited to interior/exterior components, driver assistance systems, ergonomics; Understanding of old and new vehicle structures, safety systems, crashworthiness components, and powertrains (Electric, PHEV, and ICE); Retrieve and analyze EDR ("Event Data Recorder") data for crash reconstruction; Hand tools required to dissemble vehicle components (interior and exterior); Perform crash simulations using PC-Crash accident reconstruction software; and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Position may be permitted to travel to crash sites as-needed.
