Ardurra Group LLC, a division of Ardurra Group, Inc. is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Cherry Hill, NJ. This is a full-time position.
RVE, an Ardurra Company, is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern in our Cherry Hill, NJ office.
As a Structural Engineering Intern, you’ll work with our engineering team on a variety of projects while gaining hands-on experience with structural design and analysis. You’ll assist with tasks such as preparing drawings and calculations, reviewing plans, and supporting structural projects from start to finish. This is a great opportunity to learn from experienced engineers and build your skills in a real-world engineering environment.
Primary Function:
Under moderate supervision, the Structural Engineering Intern supports the engineering team with a variety of structural engineering projects and tasks. The Intern will gain hands-on experience with structural design, calculations, drawings, field observations, and project documentation. The Intern will work alongside experienced engineers and develop an understanding of the structural design and construction process. The Intern is expected to demonstrate growing technical skills, initiative, attention to detail, and reliability in supporting project teams.
Primary Duties:
- Under supervision, performs entry-level structural engineering tasks while gaining exposure to a variety of building and structural projects.
- Assists with structural design and analysis for building structures and other structural systems.
- Supports engineers with basic engineering calculations, load calculations, design checks, reports, specifications, and other project documentation.
- Assists with preparing structural drawings, details, plans, sections, and other design documents.
- Assists with reviewing structural drawings, plans, specifications, and project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Supports field investigations and site visits to document existing structural conditions and assist with field observations.
- Assists engineers with evaluating existing structures and documenting structural conditions.
- Applies basic knowledge of structural engineering principles, materials, and design concepts to contribute to project deliverables.
- Gains experience using engineering and design software to assist with drafting, modeling, calculations, and preparation of project documents.
- Supports project teams with coordination between structural, architectural, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
- Assists with project research and develops an understanding of applicable building codes, design standards, and structural engineering practices.
- Gains exposure to the structural project process, including planning, design, permitting, construction documentation, and construction support.
- Supports project teams with various technical and administrative assignments as needed.
- Specific activities vary by assignment and project needs.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- Interest in structural engineering, building design, and the construction industry.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Team-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively with a team of professionals and independently.
- Basic understanding of structural engineering principles, building systems, structural materials, and/or engineering mechanics.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, RISA, RAM, ETABS, SAP2000, or other engineering/design software is preferred but not required.
