Position Description
The position supplies operations support of the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance and construction of oil pipeline, pipeline drain downs and tie-ins, installation, and construction of pipeline launchers and receivers, installation and operations of Kinder Morgan owned LACT units and installation of Kinder Morgan pumps and all associated piping and equipment.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Take responsibility for the supervision and inspection of pipeline & construction projects on behalf of Kinder Morgan operations team.
• Communicate regularly with operations leadership for guidance and training.
• Act as a liasion between project management group and the operations group.
• Maintain accurate spreadsheets.
• Provide leadership to operations memebers, contractors and inspectors with respect to company policies and liquid operations and maintenance procedures.
• Accept full charge responsibility for overseeing drain downs in order to provide support to the project management group and tie-ins. Develop and execute/supervise pipeline drain down procedures in support of line maintenance and new construction tie-ins.
• Ensure project oversight, cost control, accounting, adherence to schedule and documentation during construction on behalf of operations projects. Promptly anticipate and report variances from budget and schedule.
• Gain an understanding of crude pipelines, leases and station operations and safe product movement.
• Coordinate with operations, project management, commercial, scheduling, control room, and associated contractors to schedule shutdowns/tie-ins.
• Maintain a presence in North Dakota and eastern Montana. This position can only be done effectively in the field.
• Provide support for AFE preparation for construction and maintenance projects.
• Report planned and ongoing projects and activities to manager.
• Notify project management group and manager about necessary corrections and develop timelines for corrections before approving and signing off on Pre-startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
• Be proactive in job safety for all personnel on site. Perform quality Job Safety Analysis/Job Hazard Analysis and help train and guide other employees.
• Maintain company vehicle and equipment.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested or required.
Position Requirements
Education and/or experience:
• Bachelor's degree in construction management or five years of relevant experience preferred.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong listening skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization.
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
• Ability to generate, maintain and modify spreadsheets.
• Ability to understand and implement operations and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to generate detailed clear drain downs and communicate written accurate instructions and apply it in the field setting.
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
• Valid state operating license with a driving record insurable under company insurance policy.
