We are seeking an accomplished and hands-on marketing leader to serve as Senior Director of Marketing, reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a growing $1.5B business — including leading a full-scale rebrand, evolving the company's go-to-market strategy, and modernizing its marketing capability. The successful candidate will bring deep field marketing experience, construction industry fluency, and a data-first mindset that drives informed decision-making and measurable outcomes. This role blends high-level strategic thinking with practical execution across a large, distributed branch network.
Essential Functions: - Lead a Company-Wide Rebrand:
- Drive the strategic and operational execution of Cook & Boardman's rebrand — a transformative milestone. Oversee brand architecture, positioning, creative direction, and rollout across internal and external channels.
- Design and Deliver a Scalable Marketing Strategy:
- Build and execute a clear marketing plan that aligns with corporate objectives and supports growth across diverse customer segments, verticals, and geographies.
- Operate as a Data-Driven Leader:
- Champion a data-first culture within the marketing team. Use insights, KPIs, and campaign analytics to optimize performance, inform decision-making, and demonstrate impact to the business.
- Drive Field-Centric Execution:
- Engage with local branches and regional leaders to understand market nuances. Deploy marketing programs that support field sales, drive local visibility, and reflect regional dynamics.
- Build and Develop a High-Performing Team:
- Lead a lean marketing organization with an eye toward upskilling and scaling. Hire, coach, and inspire a team that can deliver on both foundational needs and strategic initiatives.
- Apply Modern Marketing Thoughtfully:
- Use modern digital marketing techniques (e.g., CRM, automation, paid media, SEO, analytics), but ground them in what works for the construction and security solutions industry today — not what's trendy.
- Own Brand and Local Marketing Execution:
- Maintain brand consistency across all channels while enabling local marketing efforts tailored to branch needs and regional differences.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally:
- Work closely with sales, eCommerce, and product teams to ensure cohesive messaging, effective lead generation, and aligned customer engagement strategies.
- Engage in the Field (20%+ Travel):
- Spend meaningful time with branches and customers to build trust, capture feedback, and fine-tune marketing initiatives for real-world impact.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - 15+ years of marketing experience, with 5+ in senior leadership roles
- Demonstrated success in B2B field marketing and supporting distributed sales or channel organizations
- Prior experience leading a company-wide rebrand or brand transformation
- Deep understanding of the construction, building materials, or adjacent industrial sectors
- Proven data-first mentality — skilled in marketing analytics, campaign reporting, and performance measurement
- Hands-on experience with modern marketing platforms (CRM, automation, digital campaigns), but grounded in practical, results-oriented deployment
- Strong communicator with executive presence and a collaborative leadership style
- Self-starter who thrives in fast-moving, roll-up-your-sleeves environments
- Willingness to travel (20%+), especially in the first year, to build relationships and assess field needs firsthand
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communication or relevant field
• Proven experience as a Director of Marketing or similar role
• Up to speed with current and online marketing techniques and best practices.
• Thorough knowledge of web analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, WebTrends etc.) and Google Adwords.
