Responsible for preconstruction support functions, including detailing, estimating, and central takeoff. Establishes plans and strategies to fully utilize the Comsense system and Bluebeam to efficiently detail projects. May be required to complete work individually as well as supervise a team of direct report employees. The Estimating Manager helps decide what projects to bid and assists in following up and closing work. He or she is responsible for hiring, training and supervising other Estimators. Use computer technology and mathematical skills in the formation of the estimate. Responsible for hiring, training and supervising other estimators.
Essential Functions - Manage the preconstruction support functions of the Detailing and Estimating Departments
- Continue to execute and deliver total opening focus vs. departmental focus
- Develop and upgrade employee skillsets on Comsense, BlueBeam and AutoCAD utilization
- Detail and estimate projects as needed
- Maintain reports for tracking projects and production
- Assign projects to detailers.
- Set bid schedule and work week outline for estimating department
- Receives constructing plans, drawings and specifications and reviews for familiarization; checks for completeness; notes bid deadlines and any special requirements
- Responsible for costing all parts and scope of work
- Performance Management and Performance Reviews of Direct Reports
- Training of new and existing employees.
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications - 5+ years of related experience with the commercial door & hardware industry, required
- Excellent communication and problem solving and analytical skills
- Experience with Comsense.
- Experience with AutoCAD, BlueBeam and/or other related architectural software.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Proficient computer skills; including Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam and Comsense
- Extensive knowledge of Doors, Frames, Door Hardware and able to effectively interpret specifications
- Exceptional Communication Skills - verbal and electronic
- Effective Team Player
- Successful candidate will be a self-starter, team player, deadline and goal oriented
