About the Role:

Are you a seasoned maintenance professional who knows how to keep systems running and teams aligned? We’re looking for a Field Maintenance Supervisor to take the lead in maintaining the vital infrastructure that keeps our airport ready for action—day or night, rain or shine.

Think of this role as the Crew Chief of the Airfield: You’ll plan, organize, and supervise skilled mechanics handling everything from airfield lighting and electrical systems to domestic water, wastewater, and grounds maintenance. Your team will be the boots on the ground, and you’ll be the one steering the ship—making sure repairs are safe, efficient, and done right the first time in our always-on, 24/7/365 operation. Supervisors work 12-hour shifts, consisting of four days during the first week of the pay period and three days during the second week. The position is assigned to the night shift, which runs from 6: 00 p.m. to 6: 00 a.m. During the initial 60–90 days, the schedule will be an 8-hour day shifts, after which it will transition to 12-hour night shifts.

Compensation:

Maximum – Based on experience

Minimum - $33.11 hourly

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintains the grounds, airfield, and landside to ensure the grass, pavement markings, security fence, runways, taxiways, and roadways are safe for travel, including removal of debris.
  • Oversees runway rubber removal process, friction testing, snow removal on airfield and roadways, recycle and collection and pavement repair.
  • Maintains plumbing complex, including outside water and sewer infrastructure, lift stations, plane wash, hydrant flushing program, irrigation pump house, read water meters, fire hydrant maintenance and repairs and triturator.
  • In close coordination with Human Resources, hires and manages maintenance workers. Conducts interviews, assigns work orders, provides schedule, provides coaching and mentoring, evaluates work performance, provides training; and takes disciplinary action, as needed.
  • Assists with the development of maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Supervise work of contractors
  • Responds to emergencies and urgent situations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency

Preferred

  • Associate degree or Journeyman level certification

Experience:

Required:

  • 5 years of experience in building construction/maintenance trades

Preferred:

  • 5 years of Supervisory experience in a maintenance trade

Licenses or Certifications:

Required:

  • CDL class B License (or ability to obtain within 9 months)

Preferred:

  • NC Pesticide License
  • Collection 1 and/or 2 Certifications

Emergency/Weather Status

This position is considered Essential. This means this department and role are essential to operations and required to be on-site when there is an airport incident (emergency/weather).
