Communications & Corporate Affairs Specialist Role Overview

The purpose of this role is to support Pepsi Bottling Ventures' reputation, culture, and business priorities by coordinating internal and external communications and assisting with key corporate affairs activities. Internally, the role helps translate business updates into clear, engaging content that keeps employees informed and connected. Externally, it contributes to PBV's brand presence by maintaining digital platforms and producing consistent, audience-appropriate messaging. The role also supports PBV's corporate citizenship and stakeholder engagement by coordinating events, sponsorships, donations, and ESG‑related activities in collaboration with government organizations, industry groups, and community partners.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Internal Communications
  • Support the development and implementation of internal communication plans in partnership with the Director, Communications & Corporate Affairs, ensuring employees understand key initiatives and organizational updates.
  • Assist in creating tools and processes that help streamline communication between leadership and employees, including preparing materials for Town Hall meetings, Annual Operating Plan meetings, and internal campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the People & Culture team to support employee engagement, culture-building activities, and employer branding efforts.
  • Draft clear, consistent messaging for internal audiences and help ensure timely distribution across communication channels.
  • Maintain internal communication platforms, including intranet pages, newsletters, and digital signage, by producing and updating content.
  • Help ensure brand consistency across internal materials and contribute to maintaining communications standards and processes.
  • Track engagement metrics for internal channels and provide insights to help improve communication effectiveness.
  • Support administration of Employee Disaster Relief Fund and assist with employee volunteerism and corporate giving initiatives.

External Communications
  • Draft and edit content for press releases, media statements, website updates, and social media posts to support external communication needs.
  • Maintain and update external company website(s) and social media channels (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn) to increase visibility and engagement.
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, summarizing key findings for the Director, Communications & Corporate Affairs.
  • Assist in preparing materials such as FAQs or background documents during sensitive or high visibility situations.
  • Support the Director, Communications & Corporate Affairs in gathering information and preparing materials related to potential issues or emerging topics.

Corporate Affairs
  • Assist with planning and organizing external events, facility tours, and visits from community partners or VIP stakeholders.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, regulatory updates, and community issues to support Corporate Affairs initiatives.
  • Help maintain relationships with government agencies, community organizations, and industry associations by coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and supporting events.
  • Support the administration of financial and product donations, assist with sponsorship activation tasks, and help gather information for ESG reporting.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, organizational communications, public relations, marketing advertising, public policy, or English required.
  • Minimum two (2) to three (3) years of communications/public relations experience required, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Experience developing communications plans and branded assets in a corporate environment.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with MS PowerPoint, SharePoint and other Microsoft applications.
  • Experience providing first-line support and coordination with third-party vendors and creative agencies.
  • Proficient with photography, video editing and production skills.
  • Experience using a variety of design and editing tools and software such as ContactMonkey, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience writing in Associated Press (AP) style.
  • Experience developing and managing editorial calendars for digital communications platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Experience with social listening and reputation management tools (Cision, Muckrack, Meltwater).
  • Experience with strategic corporate event planning and execution.
  • Change management experience.
  • Strong written, verbal and public speaking communication skills, along with influencing and negotiation skills, and an ability to communicate complex issues and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Outstanding organization and planning skills for development and execution of campaigns, programs, and events.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Provides leaders with feedback and advises on communication plans, messaging, and execution.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and shift priorities as needed.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Performs work under minimal supervision.
