Generalist, Human Resources

JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Human Resources

Location: Various

Reports to: Human Resources Manager

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, training, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

Excellent communication skills required and must be computer literate.

  3. SUPERVISION REQUIRED - Regular supervision with established goals and direction.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

    1. A bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field or equivalent work experience.
    2. Professional Certification in HR from SHRM or HRCI.

TRAINING AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  2. Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
  3. Advanced knowledge of HRIS and ability to learn new technical systems, when necessary
  4. Training in Affirmative Action, EEOC Guidelines, FLSA, USERRA, etc.
  5. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  6. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping. Interpersonal and coaching skills.
  7. Must practice a high level of confidentiality.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

2-5 years progressive HR Experience.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

Occasional based on business need

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
  2. Participates in the development and successful completion of department goals, objectives and systems.
  3. Benefits administration to include, claims resolution coordination, change reporting and communicating benefits information to employees.
  4. Maintains records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  5. Conducts full cycle recruitment efforts for exempt and nonexempt personnel and temporary employees;
  6. Assure company policies are administered fairly and consistently throughout the area of responsibility
  7. Building recruiting network through outreaching various organization and educational institutions and conducting and attending job fairs.
  8. Conducts new hire employee and benefit orientations.
  9. Handles employee exit interviewing.
  10. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as required.
  11. Maintains company organization charts and the employee directory.
  12. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  13. Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  14. Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  15. All other duties as requested.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When in the Manufacturing area, hearing protection may be required depending on the department.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in a moderate office environment. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7: 30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
