Hospice of Davidson County North Carolina Inc. is hiring a Practice Support Coordinator in Lexington, NC. This is a full-time position.
Overview: The Practice Support Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for patients, families, referral sources, and visitors while ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the office. This position combines exceptional customer service with administrative support, scheduling, office coordination, and operational responsibilities to create a welcoming, organized, and professional environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, personable, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Essential Functions: Maintain current unrestricted North Carolina driver's license and maintain minimum automobile liability insurance for the duration of employment. Available for night and weekend duty when appropriate. Must be able to interact with patients, family members, visitors, co-workers, and medical staff under a variety of circumstances. Regular, reliable attendance is essential. Must be current in health immunization requirements of North Carolina and Alderwood of Davidson County. Qualifications: Education - High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of administrative or receptionist experience. Healthcare, behavioral health, or medical office experience preferred. Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferred. Ability to communicate clearly in writing and speaking. Ability to work interdependently. Ability to work well with both individuals and groups. Commitment to the Hospice concept and standards. Duties: Welcome patients, visitors, and vendors in a friendly and professional manner. Answer and direct incoming telephone calls. Respond to general inquiries and provide information regarding services. Maintain a professional and welcoming reception area. Assist patients with check-in and check-out procedures. Manage incoming and outgoing mail and package deliveries. Monitor office security and visitor access. Maintain patient records and ensure documentation is complete. Scan, file, and organize electronic and paper documents. Prepare correspondence, reports, and meeting materials. Order and maintain office and clinical supplies. Monitor inventory and coordinate vendor orders. Assist leadership with special projects as assigned. Coordinate meetings, conference room scheduling, and refreshments when needed. Collect copayments and patient balances. Process daily receipts and reconcile payments. Assist with insurance verification and authorizations. Serve as a liaison between providers, patients, and administrative staff. Communicate professionally with referral sources and community partners. Support therapists and clinical staff with administrative needs. Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives. Acknowledges importance of team awareness. Addresses patients, co-workers, and other healthcare professionals in a pleasant and respectful manner. Demonstrates the ability to remain friendly and cooperative during all work conditions. Conveys instructions, directions, and information to co-workers. Consults with immediate supervisor as issues and concerns arise while maintaining consistent and concise lines of authority. Patient/Staff Relations Maintains a safety and clean work area to promote workplace safety. Supports smooth daily office operations Maintains confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) at all times. Is aware of basic pain management including use of pain rating scales. Recognizes and communicates with the Hospice nurse the need for intervention regarding pain when indicated. Follows all policies and procedures. Documents services and expenditures for reimbursement purposes. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. STATUS AND HOURS OF WORK: This position is classified as exempt. Usual working hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, or as needed to perform duties. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.
