Job Summary

The Commercial Credit and Relationship Manager is a key member of the client team performing a dual role between Credit Administration and Commercial Lending. While supporting Credit Administration, this position will underwrite credit requests from other markets, focusing on learning and applying the Bank’s credit policies and methodologies. Areas of focus in Commercial Lending include business development, origination of business loan, deposit, and treasury management products, assessing customer needs and developing appropriate banking solutions that meet those needs. Also in Commercial Lending, this position will manage a portfolio of clients. This position will directly report to Credit Administration in the first year but will have a dotted line to the Market President for the purpose of receiving training and development in the Commercial Relationship Manager role. As this is a developmental position, the role will shift in direct reporting to the Market President before the end of the first 12 months.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

Commercial:

  • Perform business development activity through external calling efforts on existing clients and prospects.
  • Gather information needed to assess business loan, deposit, and treasury management needs of clients and prospects.
  • Develop solutions and present bank products or services to include features and benefits to clients and prospects.
  • Analyze the prospective client’s financial statements and assist in credit underwriting.
  • Team with Treasury Management to develop business opportunities within existing portfolio and prospects.
  • Manage loan portfolio to maintain and protect credit quality.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with branches, credit administration, loan operations, deposit operations, mortgage, and all other partner groups, working as a team internally and across departments.
  • Promote and introduce personal/consumer bank services to customers, including consumer and mortgage loans, IRAs, and certificates of deposit.
  • Refer commercial partners to opportunities, including mortgage, investment, insurance, equipment finance, and SBA.

Credit:

  • Work with Commercial Lending team to meet with customers and screen new deals.
  • Underwrite credit packages for new money and renewal requests.
  • Complete annual reviews; review monthly borrowing bases and covenant calculations; monitor changes in the borrower’s industry and operating performance; identify changes in the borrower’s credit risk profile.
  • Ensure all credit risk metrics within assigned portfolio are managed within acceptable risk tolerances.

General:

  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations, and laws.
  • Complete all mandatory annual compliance training.
  • Follow regulatory requirements including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and OFAC to assist in the identification, detection, and determent of money laundering and other unlawful activities, as well as regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance to include fair lending laws.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field required.

Required:

  • 5+ years of progressive Commercial Credit experience or as a business or commercial banker required with demonstrated record achieving goals.
  • Solid understanding of financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, accounting, and credit structuring.
  • Proven underwriting and decision-making experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and lending practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of all business lending and deposit products.
  • Ability to successfully complete bank training program(s) for lending (depending on experience and background as a lender).
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to resolve customer concerns/issues in a positive way.
  • Effective team member and able to collaborate,
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
