Description:

Prerequisite for Position:


The role is highly technical, requiring advanced knowledge and troubleshooting skills in electrical power generation, compressed air systems, and temperature control.


  • Electric Power Generation:
    • Engine controls, governors and actuators.
    • Lubrication, cooling and fuel systems (electronic and mechanical).
    • Power conductor interconnection and installation.
    • Voltage and power factor controls.
  • Compressed Air:
    • Engine controls, governors and actuators.
    • Lubrication, cooling and fuel systems (electronic and mechanical).
    • Configuration and installation of compressor hose, fittings, filters, aftercoolers, dryers and air receivers.
    • Compressor operation and set up including flooded and oil-free designs.
  • Temperature Control (Heating, Air Conditioning, Dehumidifying and Chilling):
    • Operations and functions of evaporator and compressor systems.
    • Interconnect of power conductors, cooling hose, ventilation ducting, blowers and cooling towers.
    • Programming and control set up of PLC for site specific applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Ensure safety compliance, especially around high-power circuits
  • Ability to rebuild major systems and sub components
  • Interpret schematics and manuals; apply mathematical formulas
  • Document service reports and time entries daily
  • Configure and troubleshoot software and hardware systems
  • Proficient with electronic test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Digital Voltage Meters, Phasing Indication Meters, Load Banks (resistive/reactive).
  • Train end users and communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholders
  • Participate in project reviews and installation readiness
  • Maintain company property and submit expenses monthly
  • Complete required training (Convergence Safety, MSHA, OSHA)

EDUCATION / Work Experience:

Must be a high school graduate with the below work experience. A technical college graduate in diesel or electrical technology can off set the below work experiences by 2 years.

  • Education: High school diploma required; technical college degree can offset 2 years of experience
  • Experience:
    • External: Minimum 5 years in generator packages, switchgear, UPS, ATS
    • Internal: At least 2 years as a top-level GPEC EPG Rental Specialist I

PHYSICAL:

  • Lift up to 70 lbs safely
  • Possess or acquire necessary tools
  • Possess a safe driving record, as outlined in GPEC Motor Vehicle Policy
  • Operate service vehicle daily; valid driver’s license and DOT health card required
  • Willingness to travel overnight occasionally
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other Windows-based programs
